He really wanted to say, I can’t be breaking that record against Zimbabwe

Incredibly stupid. Brian Lara didn't think of the guy he passed on his way. South African crickets needs these kinds of records to legitimize itself. This is why nobody will take cricket seriously in this country. Would rassie stop competing in the next world cup final out of respect for new zealand winning it twice in a row ?....hands down the most moronic thing i has seen in years.

I think he is an idiot ... to declare on 367* If he had so much respect for Lara, he could have declared scoring 400 Stupid decision, according to me Not many batsmen get such a chance in Test cricket to score so near to such a score... This is like Noah Lyles approaching the 100m WR less than 9.58 but instead slows down to pay respect to Usain Bolt It doesn't work that way, records are meant to be broken .. but still as I said he could have scored exact 400 & declared

Awesome from Wiaan, such a cool act. But I wonder if it was the right thing to do - I.e. should we let the cricket gods/ fate decide the records. Appreciate it is difficult thing to always get right, and kudos to Wiaan!

Good thought but not wise to do that. Records are meant to be broken and even Lara would have been proud of that.

GOOD but he was not in like 390s & just needed a few more shots to cross 400 He could have easily got out in making those 34 more runs from 367 to 401 plus there were Mahela at 374 Lara at 375 Hayden at 380 to be taken over first anyway trying to say 401 was NOT guaranteed🙏

It’s all about mindset. Even if I break records with a weaker team, people only focus on that. If I get the chance to do it against a strong team, it will remembered and proud moment 😀 #Mulder #SAvsZIM

Then why play against Zimbabwe's current team .

I don't think it was as wise a decision as he makes it out to be. Brian Lara would've respected him more for not giving up and smashing it. Legends do not stop until they are stopped.

Absolute nonsense 🚮
