Some of the people who loudly promised to leave over Trump actually did it, then ran into the same hard realities they spent years dismissing at home. For years large parts of the media treated record border encounters, fentanyl deaths, housing pressure, and strain on local services as either overblown or not worth serious coverage. Mass migration is a real policy tradeoff with measurable costs and benefits, not a morality play. Europe has its own version of the problem, and pretending otherwise doesn't make the tradeoffs disappear here either..
