Mary Tyler Moore: *thinking* Okay, keep calm, just finish the scene *as soon as she gets off set* HOLY SHIT, did you see that?!

Look at her face! She was shocked!

It was setup for her to be able to make it, but what was also supposed to happen was a professional was supposed to come in during a different camera shot and perform that trick. Mary Tyler Moore nails it, and everyone is shocked.

The way her mouth drops and freezes in shock after the shot is so cute Then her quick recovery shows she was a true professional

The fact she managed to hold her well earned smug smile right to the very end is incredible, I would’ve been marching around with a band.

Ladies and gentlemen, we found it. The one moment in sitcom history where the laughter and applause from the audience was true and genuine.

@jertam They both did a good great job of staying in character and (mostly) keeping a straight face. 😮😆

I still love those old shows. Alot of them were old already when I first saw them. But they're all from a time when we were learning, growing forgiving and coming together through laughter and Love

This is absolutely amazing! And she's so coy about it too!

No accident. She knew where to place the cue ball and they were setup. Anyone could make that shot.

Having seen this many times, I always wonder what was supposed to happen and, more importantly, what the original script had as the character's lines instead of: "I believe that finishes the game, Mr Petrie/Patrick" [not seen in this clip, was his response after standing there looking at the table, from memory..] "Wait till my mother hears I married a pool shark!"

My dad was a truck driver that hauled cars up & down CA. One day he was told to go pick up one car only (trailers held 7) from the port & drive it to a Hollywood dealership keeping it in pristine new condition. Turns out it was Mary Tyler Moore’s new Rolls Royce (69).
