In his book, Losing the Race, John McWhorter writes about the transition in the mid-60's, when studious black children, who were teased by their peers as "nerds", like everyone else, suddenly were attacked as "acting white". Imagine the peer pressure.

I've had the following theory for some years now: When society begins to degrade it hits the Black community first. For example out of wedlock births. It began as a problem in the community first, but has become worse across the board. The Black community is essentially the canary in the coal mine for social degradation. Conversely as society improves, the Black community will lag the overall population but will also improve. Currently society is in a free fall, and epidemic of lawlessness we see among the Black youth will become far more universal if the trend doesn't stop, which is unlikely

Don't have children until married. Don't have children until ready. Stay a two parent family. Be reliable. Be honest. Work hard. Stay off welfare. Speak English. Be Christian and Put America first. Nothing else is required. And "White" has nothing to do with it, except as shared and necessary character traits. After 250 years the US still offers the best opportunity in the world for anyone who does those things.
