The problem with AI meeting bots is that you *can’t trust* their notes. Bots don’t know what’s important to you, and there’s no way for you to tell them.

We asked ourselves: how can AI help you write notes that are still *your notes*? To answer that, we invented a brand new way of note taking...

You don’t take notes in Granola to capture information. You take notes to tell Granola’s AI what’s important to you – think of it as leaving a trail of breadcrumbs. Granola then follows your breadcrumbs and writes polished notes.

If you don’t write any notes, Granola will write them from scratch (using the transcript). If you write a couple notes, Granola will fill out the rest. If you write lots of notes, Granola just cleans them up and adds structure.

And don’t worry, you can see exactly what you wrote vs what Granola added (read this to understand why that’s important: If something ever seems off, you can zoom in to see exactly where it came from in the transcript.

“We create our tools, and thereafter, our tools shape us.” - John Culkin (1967) As an industry, we’re just starting to figure out how to integrate AI into our tools. If we don’t do this thoughtfully, we might accidentally outsource not just our busy work, but our judgement to AI.

Granola is inspired by the ideas of Douglas Engelbart and other computing pioneers in the 1960s. We think AI tools should keep humans at the center and augment their abilities - like a conductor conducting an orchestra, rather than an orchestra that plays itself.

@meetgranola I like everything about this positioning. Never got excited about products that replace note-taking because it does help me think and remember and I don't want to give that up. And the specificity of "back to back meetings" in the value prop is a nice touch 👌
