WTVA chief meteorologist Matt Laubhan will always be remembered for praying for the city of Amory prior to the arrival of the tornado that ravaged the community. He, along with the entire weather team, was laid off today.

Another Allen Media Group company. They’ve decided it’s cheaper to just do the weather for all their stations out of a studio in Atlanta, GA… You know, far away from Tornado Alley, where they will surely be able to be dialed into the unique climates all across the country.

I wonder if the folks that make these kind of decisions realize that some of us only tune in to their stations when these folks are working? SMH

This is just unbelievable. The entire WSIL 3 team in southern IL was let go. This is happening all over the USA. Matt is a great meteorologist. This is just awful. And scary.

Greed. Corporate greed is destroying America. So sad.

sad to hear that the team was let go. Matt showed the human side of these storms. He will always be remembered for that. I give him all the respect I have.

Why are they doing this?

It’s a strange time but i recommend meteorologists create their own channels on social media and make their presence known. I’m sorry but i squarely put the blame on the opinion journalists who make millions for alienating all their viewers.
