With Israel blocking the entry of spare parts and medical supplies, Gaza's hospital engineers have been forced to salvage parts from damaged machinery just to keep equipment running. At Al-Shifa Hospital — once the largest medical facility in Gaza — engineers have managed to restore only around 15% of the hospital's equipment. "We now collect equipment damaged during the [Israeli] ground incursion and the bombing of the hospital … dismantle matching equipment of the same type, salvage and repair the parts, and then reassemble the equipment.,” Ahmed Younis, an engineer at Al-Shifa, told Drop Site. “But the equipment is not operating at the level of efficiency it is supposed to.” As of June 2026, WHO reported that the principal barriers to health facilities being rehabilitated in the Gaza Strip were a lack of medical equipment, affecting 97% of facilities, and shortages of medicines, affecting over 80% of facilities. The Ministry of Health has also issued an urgent warning that Gaza’s few remaining oxygen plants are operating beyond capacity and breaking down. In parallel with the decimation of Gaza’s health care system, Israel is continuing to severely restrict the number of Palestinians allowed out of Gaza to seek treatment abroad. Some 300 Palestinians have died waiting for medical evacuations since the “ceasefire” went into effect, according to the Health Ministry, with 20,000 patients waiting for authorization and only around 2,000 being allowed to cross so far.

From DREAM to REALITY Two weeks ago, as part of our resource mobilization strategy for #Bamutakudde Village, we announced a vision to launch Bamutakudde Catering Services an enterprise designed to create employment for 10-15 women in our community. I am thrilled to share a major milestone. Chef Godwin, a leading professional chef in Uganda, responded to our call. On Sunday, he and his team of 6 chefs volunteered a full day to train our women in professional culinary skills, including pilau rice preparation and professional fruit carving for catering. Beyond the training, Chef Godwin has committed to: 1. 10 full scholarships for 10 women for a 4-month professional culinary program 2. Donation of start-up equipment (saucepans, food warmers, dishes) 3. Strategic partnership on his major catering projects This is a powerful example of skills transfer, private sector - community partnership, and women's economic empowerment in action. Sincere gratitude to Chef Godwin and his team for investing in rural women. #SocialEnterprise #WomenEconomicEmpowerment

Ohio State, Akron University, Wright State, Case, U of Cincinnati, U of Dayton. Akron University, which Vivek wants to close, has the #1 Polymer Science Program in the World. Here is what he is actually telling our future engineers to their face. Ohio has the infrastructure to reindustrialize. Vivek is touting advanced manufacturing, automation, and robotics. Flash back to the Longshoreman Port strikes of 2024. They were fighting automation. Advanced manufacturing (automation) means replacing jobs with robotics. What Vivek is selling Ohio businesses is a 40%-50% reduced labor cost to sell Ohioans out of a job. On top of that, H1Bs will replace the few positions that oversee these operations. Vivek's attack on our education system, is because it is excellent and it's competition for his plan to sell the state to his tech and biotech friends. Don't let him.

Yesterday was a day of basketball for the Doty family. It started with a 6:30 AM wake up call as our first grader, Amery, coached by her momma and a former D1 athlete fellow mom, played an 8:00 AM game at our church in Sugar Land. Amery has worked really hard over the past months. She scored three baskets all of last season. She made six shots in yesterday’s game alone (see video for a few of her makes). Our son Braylon, a junior in high school, coached his third grade team at 2:00 PM at the church. His team has won some games and he said, “Maybe I should get into coaching for a career.” I think he should keep his lofty goals of becoming a US diplomat or going into medicine 😆. I’m just glad he is enjoying running practices and helping the youth develop through this volunteer opportunity. At 3:30 PM our Houston Christian University team tipped off a Southland Conference game in Houston. We got the win so Alexys and Braylon weren’t the only winning coaches in the family like previous weekends. In all seriousness, our players played an incredible second half and earned an important victory.

Over 30 years ago, when we began paneer manufacturing, there was very little in terms of automation. It was a largely manual process, driven by experience, attention and consistency on the shop floor. Today, that landscape has changed significantly. We, Milky Mist Dairy, are currently running trials to automate material movement within our facility using solutions from Goat Robotics, a recipient of the Make in India Excellence Award 2025. Their autonomous mobile robots are designed to integrate seamlessly into existing operations, enabling end-to-end material movement with greater efficiency and safety. What stands out is how far manufacturing technology has evolved adapting to real-world environments without disrupting established processes. This shift is helping us reduce manual errors, improve throughput and bring greater consistency across operations ensuring that what reaches our end customers meets the same uncompromising standards every time. For us, adopting such technology is not about change for the sake of it. It is about strengthening what we have always stood for - quality, reliability and consistency.

Tens of thousands of people once paid good money to watch two full-size steam trains smash straight into each other at full speed. From 1896 until the early 1930s this became one of the most popular live spectacles in the United States. A man named Joe Connolly, known as Head-On Joe, turned it into his full-time career. He staged more than 70 crashes and destroyed 146 locomotives in total. He laid temporary track a mile long, placed one locomotive at each end, had the engineers jump clear at the last second, and added dynamite plus gasoline to create massive fiery explosions for the crowds. The shows finally stopped during the Great Depression. Destroying perfectly usable trains suddenly felt too wasteful.

sharing a very rough early version of what i’ve been building. right now the mirror is connected to an lcd display, backend running on my laptop (for demo purpose) components: - two way acrylic mirror sheet (sourced from gujarat) - display + stand - compute machine (currently my laptop, planning to move to a raspi connected to a remote server) - a small ai agent written in python current use cases it solves for me: - virtual try on before leaving for an event (from your existing wardrobe) - helping decide what to buy vs skip - basic skincare routine guidance initial inspiration was the magic mirror idea, but i’m trying to build it into something more over time. pls excuse the video quality, this is still very early and very much wip. happy to answer any questions you have. would really appreciate any feedback 🙏
