#WHA79 delegates met this week against a backdrop of outbreaks, conflict, division, uncertainty and constrained resources. That is exactly the point of multilateralism: not to pretend the difficulties of our world are not there, but to address them together. That is not automatic. It is a choice. A choice to prioritise health. A choice to recognise that no country can address today’s health challenges alone. A choice to work through World Health Organization (WHO), not only as an institution, but as a shared platform for shared action. I thank you for that choice.

Carney: Let me conclude by observing what’s obvious but essential: we are both undertaking massive transformations of our economies. Plan Mexico, Canada strong. Our efforts will be strengthened by working together. As President Sheinbaum said at the G7 summit — and I quote — “In an interdependent world, no country can isolate itself.” And as one of your predecessors counseled: among individuals, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace. It’s by balancing this respect for sovereignty with a belief in cooperation that Canada and Mexico will build together for the benefit of our peoples.

Bianca didn't have to bring Dustin. She could've attended the Star Magical Prom alone, and no one would've questioned it. Bringing him was never a requirement. In fact, he wasn't even expected to be there. But instead, they turned a once-in-a-lifetime event into a memory they got to share together. 🤍 History was made. It's far more than Republican versus Democrat. In the future, big challenges like pandemics, refugees, and climate change will be blind to borders. They'll be everyone's problem and only solved by working together as a family of nations. The world needs not American isolation, but American leadership. On March 1, 2026, as I stepped away from my role as the United Nations 🇺🇳 Resident Coordinator to China 🇨🇳 , I did more than conclude a five-year term; I closed the book on a career spanning nearly three decades of public service. To look back across thirty years is to see a tapestry woven with the threads of many nations, many crises, and many triumphs. Yet, as I stand at this final horizon, I can say with absolute clarity: my time in China 🇨🇳 has been the jewel in the crown of my professional life.
