*** Mega Parodius Sega Megadrive Update *** Lately I've been having some fun seeing how far we can push the Parodius game engine . This is not arcade accurate - just for testing, decreased bullet timers and upped the bullet count to see what would happen re cpu usage when things are made a lot busier ! Maybe something like this could be insane mode in the options etc. Since last update we are a lot more optimised under the hood . The C based sprite engine, particularly visibility checking was speedup , overall 25 % faster. Then re-wrote the sprite engine completely in 68k assembly , 30% faster again. It took about 3 days and 1500 lines of assembly , thankfully the gains were worth it. All these gains will be back ported to S.O.T.A also as its using the same sprite engine. Usage is around 19% of cpu per frame with a full sprite load - 33 % cpu left in the busiest frame currently . Parodius is using a write the sprite list every frame type engine , so priority and meta-sprite objects can be handled with ease albiet its still a bit slower than static allocation sprite engines such as the one in lufthoheit but this is a bit easier to code for in the long run. All collision checks are been done , we are using a spatial grid system to get the collision checks done faster than a brute force approach . To get to maximum sprite count destruction is disabled in the video. We hit 80 sprites onscreen in this sequence , the sprite counter is one the Left side. We use about 16 sprites in the top hud and water line , about 21 for player attacks / missiles / shots / options . Up to 35 bullets + enemies . No lazer usage here as the Lazers use zero sprites thanks to the raster tricks , this video is all about the sprites ! Improved the water line when the Catboss is active , as he is Sprites + Forground we are doing some tile rotation tricks eg bit scrolling to give the impression of parrallax at that point . Vector Orbitex has updated the stage 1 music again and has made things even higher quality , hes mixed pcm and fm channels together to create higher quality orchestral hits for example . Pyron has started converting assets from stage 2/3 , some amazing work there . Hes well ahead of me at present which is a good thing. I've been seeing a lot of talk about how CM 15 is "The worst CM to date" and really just general negativity around the state of this CM. I wanted to give my perspective as someone who has felt this is most fun CM in recent memory, using what people would generally consider one of the worst strategies. I know this won't apply to everyone and RNG factors in a lot, but I still think it's good to have the discussion. I started this CM originally with my usual plan on a Medium track around Late OG Nice Nature and double dom debuffers. The plan was to C4 velo bomb with unique and shadow break, using Dober, Red-Shift and Nimble to accel. I used my usual setup Front/Pace/Late, to give Natie the best opportunity to hit Nimble and overtake. While doing practice rooms, I found 2 things. 1) Natie was unable to get into position a lot of the time due to high front lobby composition. 2) When putting my Debuffers at end instead, Natie would have no one to overtake. Now don't get me wrong, she won sometimes but it was clear that every variation I was trying would not be able to catch up with a front or XOguri. So that left me with a problem. How do I close that 3-4 length gap? After talking with some of my knowledgeable friends, there was one mechanic I had mostly written off due to the environment. Dueling. I've always been an avid enjoyer and user of Dueling but really underestimated its power here. The clip on this post shows just how insane Dueling can be on this CM. It's more powerful than double dom for backliners. Now how you force duel to work in your favor? The best answer, a second ace. I know for a lot of solo ace players this is a non-starter, but I feel for this CM as a backliner, Dueling is the best weapon we have to win. And having a second ace drastically increases your chances to duel with each other, giving you the power you need to catch up. The second piece to the puzzle was going back to my CM7 roots and stacking final straight velocity. Normally you have to stack a lot of mid game to keep up with the pack to stay in position, but I felt that saccing a small bit of it for more late game velocity had more value. There's also probably my favorite skill this CM, It's On. This skill along with good pace up from high Wit really handled a lot of my issues. Keeping a front debuffer that would fall back in the mid game gave me almost a full guaranteed proc of It's On every race. These changes to my team saw so much success in practice lobbies, it was pretty insane to see. I was able to win almost every variation of lobby composition that is common this CM. The only one that would always be the toughest is a full front lobby. Most of my races here would be losses as both Natie and Muteki would not be able to get into a good position to hit Dober/Red-Shift. I will say I have been extremely lucky in my lobby rolls this CM to have very few of them. I've also had a few wins even in those high front lobbies despite the odds being against me. Being able to solve this puzzle to best of my ability was very fun and to see the results has been awesome. My main takeaway would be is, if you have another Oshi outside of your main one that you've always wanted to race but didn't because you were doing solo oshi, give duo oshi a shot. You might find something new that you really enjoy. It's really awesome to watch both of my favorite umas win races😊

Why are these horrible date ideas & what mistakes did these guys make? 1️⃣ MOVIES: if you want to make a movie date work, your arm needs to be around her the entire time, you need to be whispering into her ear, talking with her, joking with her, and touching her (oh, and it probably shouldn’t be a first date… unless you guys really hit it off the first time you met before the date). You 100% do not want to do the thing where you go to the movies, ignore her for 2 hours, and stare at a screen. Then I adjusted them for Atlanta, and when I went to New York, I felt like the one I’d prepared might not spread as well in a stadium, so I created a new one just for stadiums. Since it was completely different, the vibe felt different between stadiums and arenas. Then before going to Baltimore, I looked into it a bit and found out Baltimore has its own famous genre called Baltimore Club or Clubhouse. I also learned that Jersey Club kind of evolved from Baltimore Clubhouse. I really love that kind of historical music background, so while studying it, I thought, “Should I try Baltimore Clubhouse?” I think I had that thought in Atlanta. Then after the New York show ended - after send-off - a fan told me they wanted to hear dubstep in Baltimore. Honestly, it’s not that I can’t do it. Since I’m constantly making new sets anyway, I figured I could definitely pull it off. So I thought I might as well try, and I created a set that starts with Baltimore Clubhouse and transitions into dubstep. It was fun. Now that we’re in Nashville, I thought that maybe today or tomorrow, if I get bored, I might come up with some intro that fits Nashville too. But I’m not sure yet. Sometimes I bring back things that got a good reaction before, but for now, I’m making intros that reflect the unique vibe of each city, and that process itself has been a really great experience for me. It’s fun, too. So that’s where I’m at now. It’s not necessarily difficult, but as the number of sets increases, it becomes a bit limiting. Some of you may have noticed, but each member has their own solo song, and I perform a solo song too. During my solo stage, all the sound bypasses the usual PA system and comes directly from my own DJ setup. So if there’s any mistake or issue with my DJ gear, the sound just cuts out completely. It’s a pretty bold risk to take. Since I have full control over the stage in Part 3 of the concert, I was really worried at first. When I talked to the Pro Tools engineer, Eden hyung, and the audio team, there was talk about whether to do hand-sync or not. I said, “If I have to hand-sync, I’d rather not do it.” I didn’t want to do that. Even if there was risk, I wanted to do it properly, because this concert isn’t just about me. They found a way to make it work, and now the concert setup is safe - as long as I don’t mess up. There are no technical issues; it’s just on me to execute correctly. Because there’s no hand-sync at all, sometimes the timing may be a little off. Still, one of my mottos as a singer is: “If I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right.” So I want to do it properly.

Meanwhile, the Instagram model is banging some guy she met in a mall food court (true story). The girls are out there. You’re probably not going to find them online. You have to get up off the couch, dust the Cheetos crumbs off, put on some decent clothes, and go outside. Follow the 3-second rule: you have 3 seconds from the moment you lay eyes on her until you have to approach. Focus on making it flirtatious and low pressure. Take the lead with her and see her if you can move her around a bit. Ask her out, get her to change venues with you, or if it goes well invite her back for a drink at yours. Highguard impressions after 12+ hours on PS5 Pro. I've read the PC version is unoptimised, so exp there may differ. Included video of a 17 kill match with randoms where I was also explaining mechanics to a new player. + LOVE the integration of mounts. Morphing onto them and rushing through maps is thrilling, fast and fun; can feel like a medieval soldier charging into battle. + Mounted chases and combat is cool. + Weapons feel punchy and general controls are great. Once you get to grips with it, can be so fast and mobile, inc jumping with mounts straight onto zip lines etc. + As I don't have the attention span of a gnat, I enjoy the exploration and looting downtime between rounds/high intensity action heavy moments. Offers a calm before the storm vibe and allows you to enjoy the scale, environments, mounts and art. + Enjoy the fusion of looting, catching/chasing shield breakers and Counter Strike style bomb detonation or defusing. Things get crazier and crazier over a match, and the environment destruction adds strategy and approach variation, allowing you to mould choke points etc. + Solid skill ceiling with a lot of strategy in team play, abilities, map control etc. Those with higher play IQ and the ability to master multiple mechanics simultaneously, will be highly rewarded. + Most of the characters are well balanced, with differing abilities and strategy purpose. + Weapons are generally well balanced. Don't mind not having my weapons of choice. + Cool art direction and sense of scale. At times a bit like a more fantastical AAA Breath of the Wild. + Maps are well designed with great vistas, draw distances, huge towering structures, good choke points and lots of approach points. Also diverse in biome styles; lava, overgrown, desert, snow etc. + Sound design is strong. Foot and mount steps being exaggerated also brings tension and spacial caution. + Skins of weapons, characters etc are varied and high quality. Even free ones. Many aren't just different coloured variants but totally different outfits and weapon models. + With two good teams, the constant back and forth can make for some thrillingly tight, clutch or saved in the last second type moments. + Nice design details; keeping loot on death, each round loot rarity increasing, shield bearer being a beacon, being able to teleport back to base, mount health etc. + Progression so far seems fair, and cosmetics not too excessively priced. + Performance on Pro has been solid, and I've not had a single bug, glitch, matchmaking error etc. - Shielding up your base needs work. Often times not effective enough. - Image quality is pretty poor, especially in motion. - Most randoms don't have a clue what they're doing and many don't have mics, can make things much harder and less exciting, esp when team play is so effective. - Wish the free Battle Pass had more content, or there were more free unlocks. - On some maps loot is too spread out. - When enemy has shield breaker and you die, can sometimes take too long to get back into the thick of it. - Weapons are a bit uninspired. Basically just typical archetypes like revolver, AR, shotgun etc. - Would have liked more weapons and characters, but for launch it's decent. ___ Overall, so far I'm really enjoying it and have actually been quite hooked. I'm not a clairvoyant so can't tell if it'll hold my attention long term (that'll partly depend on post launch support), but initial impressions have been solid. I was highly critical of games like Concord, Redfall etc, but Highguard isn't that, it's far higher quality. Highguard ultimately has aspects from multiple different games I love, so while individually they're not so innovative or unique, having them all combined together with the mount riding, great gunplay, scale etc, to me is fun, engaging and pretty fresh. My fox shooting garden defending AI robot is finally done and WORKING! 🤩 (Don’t worry it only shoots 💦 water) After months of slowly moving forward with each part I finished the last step to train a TensorFlow model on the footage of the 🦊 fox I collected hours of footage 📹 with the fox roaming around my garden, from this I labeled around 2000 images with the fox by hand ✋ Honestly, I was quite skeptical training the model was actually gonna work, maybe this was partly the reason I avoided working on this until the very end. If I couldn’t train a model to detect the fox, this whole robot would never be able to function properly. On the flipside though, with no previous experience in hardware or electronics there was a bit of a learning curve and I didn’t want to end up labeling thousands of images, training a TensorFlow model, only to fail on building the hardware. As I started building, I realized that mixing hardware and software adds quite another dimension to debugging things. At times I wasted hours debugging code in my IDE, only to realize the issue was somewhere in the electronics. Furthermore, combining this side project with a full time job and a young family, is not always easy. It can be quite frustrating, to know you only need 4 hours of concentrated effort for a small task, having to spread it out across a week of 20min increments. Then, a few months into the build I noticed the fox had stopped coming to my garden, in fact one day, I recorded her walking with 3 cute little 🐶 pups, and the next day I saw her moving out of my garden completely. Did she know I was building a robot? I had this strange mix of feelings, happy my garden was safe from poop and digging, happy she was safe with her pups, but how was I gonna finish this project if my robot had no fox to detect? For sure they would be back next year, I figured I could postpone the whole thing until next winter, but I also knew it was gonna be much harder to pick up momentum if I did let it sit there for six months. So I decided to keep working, hoping the fox would reappear,.. but she never did. As I finished labeling the footage and started training my model, I could finally see the mAP results, quantifying the precision of my object detection model. It was measuring at 78% across different metrics on detecting my fox. I quickly ran the model on some of the video footage I got from my fox. Inference speed took a hit, but it did a near perfect job detecting the fox, even when she was deep down in the grass or wizzing past in a motion blur. It took me by surprise how well it worked. With the default model I had to drop my confidence threshold way down to 15%, to recognize the fox as 🦜“bird” in one or two frames, with my custom model it followed the fox all the way down to the back of the garden! Still this didn’t solve the issue of there being no actual fox in my garden and how was I gonna wrap this project in a short timeframe. I played with the idea of putting a fox toy 🧸 on an RC 🚗 car, or borrowing a dog to run around the garden to test. Friends suggested I run around the garden in a fox costume.. what a ridiculous idea. I wasn’t really feeling the idea of running around the garden in a floppy cloth fox 🎭 costume, but had a look anyway. I came across these self inflating costumes. This actually could be perfect. Since it’s inflated, it would hold its shape super well, making it much easier to label, train and be recognized by my robot. So I got the costume and shot a time lapse of myself as a fox walking around the garden. I labeled it to around 600 images. Ran the model training again and got a mAP result of 82%. This was even better than my real fox! At this point I knew this was gonna work. So here’s the final 🎥 video, just having some fun with it. I’ll update here whenever the real fox does come back. On a final note, I’m looking for (remote) jobs in these fields of AI now: - object detection - visual generative AI - 3D (nerfs + gaussian splats) So if you know anything let me know! Good morning, TeamFuloZim/Global 🌅 Yesterday was one of those Saturdays that starts with high hopes and ends in a bit of self-doubt and kitchen smoke. Having finally recovered from a relentless two-week streak of #ZesaUK call-outs, I decided to reward myself (and maybe punish others) by making my signature NFC ,Njanja Fried Chicken. 😋😋 But aish! Let’s just say… the results were mixed. 😬 Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve made this before ,and it nearly brought the house down (in a good way). But yesterday, ummm, ndakawona moto! Let’s just say something wasn’t oil-right. (See what I did there? 😜) The pot started frothing like I’d poured in Sunlight dishwashing liquid ,and no, Fa Matiz Fadzie, before you start ,I didn’t. This isn’t a repeat of the Great Derere Disaster of 2021. I swear! 😂 45 minutes, team. Forty. Five. To fry a few humble 🥁🍗?? I could’ve walked to KFC and back. Twice. But KFC isn’t NFC! What was going on? Does the type of cooking oil make a difference? Because I always assumed mafuta is mafuta. Turns out… I may have been cooking in ignorance all these years. 🫣 And don’t even bring up the pot I used. I already know what you’re thinking. “Wrong pan, wrong pot…” But you know the rules in UK households: the “special cookware” is strictly out of bounds for most men ,in case we burn it or give it funny smells. 🙄 So yes, I had to work with what I was “allowed” to use. Call it survival cooking. Also, can we talk about how I initially cracked the eggs directly into the flour bowl? Tsitsitsitsitsitsitsi, #DzunguMoment ,I know. I KNOW. I later remembered the egg wash was supposed to be in a separate bowl. Rookie error. I corrected course, but the flour still wasn’t binding like it does on those perfect Chef Vie 💙 🇿🇼 🇰🇪 🇰🇷 🇯🇴 🇿🇦 Chef Vie or COOKING WITH LIA 👩🏾‍🍳🌱 reels. Where’s my crispy coating era, nhayi? What’s Nancy’s Birthday without being surrounded by Children?! Nothing! My babies at Dream Catchers Academy 🇳🇬🌍 came for a playdate at their Aunty Nancy’s home and we had the best time! Let me give you a little back story about how the decision to celebrate my birthday with Children every birthday for the past 13years came about. My 20th birthday celebration was at a Nightclub and I remember hating every bit of the experience. From running around the entire night making sure my guests arrived and were okay to worrying about if they were happy and having fun to heavy anxiety about everything because I’m an unrepentant perfectionist. The night ended with me deeply unhappy! I decided this wasn’t the way for me, but I also didn’t want to be discouraged from celebrating my birthdays. So, in my quiet time, I asked God to lay in my heart how I’ve been destined to celebrate my birthdays. God did! And God did heavilyyyyy!😅 Children! And Not just going to drop things off for them but curating my entire day around them and NEVER having a budget when God places in my heart what each birthday should be. At the time, I was already studying social works and was involved in the welfare system. Without hesitation, I said “For life Lord!” My 21st birthday at the Children’s remand home with my car boot filled with personalized goodies for the children and maybe 3friends, was the best birthday of my Life! The kids prayed specific prayers and being around them felt.. Right! I went to bed that night, HAPPY, FULFILLED and I just couldn’t stop crying tears of joy. Ever since then, I haven’t looked back, every year I’d get clear directions on what to do. If you ask me in September what my birthday plan was for the year, I’d say I don’t know not because I don’t want to tell you but because I truly do not know😅 God lays it in my heart quietly and pulls the resources, the people and the process together to work for my good. Bryson DeChambeau shot a final round 65 to finish 3rd at LIV Golf Korea, just 1 shot out of the playoff. The visceral hate on display following the victory of Zohran Mamdani in New York is palpable and made me feel physically sick. Then I watched the Pentagon briefing with Pete Hegseth veins extended in his neck, as he attacked the press in a way that was a first for me. I have never seen anything quite like it. It was deeply disturbing and very dangerous. It goes to the very core of how a narcissistic sociopath has infected the soul of a nation like a malignant cancer that is eating America alive. This is a man that is not just dangerous, but truly evil. It is chilling and at the same time unspeakably terrifying. America is being held hostage by what I can only describe as an international crime boss prepared to do ANYTHING in his quest for absolute power. It is my honest belief that if he was faced with the choice of losing power or committing genocide on immigrants in the US, he would volunteer to turn on the gas taps, that’s who he is and the world should be absolutely terrified, because faced with even being questioned on just the truth of events, he’s prepared to risk the security of millions as vengeance for having the audacity to question a pathological liar.
