Yankeesource always talks about high leverage play at SS with the previous guys. This is such a pivotal play during that win tonight. And look at the confidence he exudes after the play as he’s walking around. Deserved a more animated call from Kay tbh. Kid is BIG TIME 🔥

Saying someone has “aura” is so cringe but this fucker has IT FACTOR Aura to the max and so young. We got a DUDE

I had no confidence with Volpe in high leverage and Caballero was a temporary SS. Lombard just has a better grasp of situations and he has the skill to execute at a high level. It’s great to see him have an impact already.

Absolute facts 💯

@YankeeSource Kay is too worried about criticizing fans about for being down on Volpe because he objectively sucked

@YankeeSource He is everything

@YankeeSource I’m running out of words

@YankeeSource This kid will be a perennial 5-6 war player bc of his glove if he can have a .750ish ops or better year after year

@YankeeSource Wouldn’t mind if Cashman signed him to a long contract, lower aav type of deal

@YankeeSource What a BEAST, our other “shortstops” were not making that play

@YankeeSource And @RealMichaelKay just couldn’t get excited about this play. If that was Volpe he’d be screaming into the Mic, then do a full episode about all the hate Volpe gets

@YankeeSource It’s almost awkward to watch him play SS because the last 10 years we haven’t seen good defense at SS

@YankeeSource I think Volpe was a better defender than ppl think but I will say in a high leverage situation I wouldn’t hope the ball is hit to him 😂 with Lombard I’m basically praying they hit the ball to him

@YankeeSource Give @RealMichaelKay some time, he’s a bit sad and just not over Volpe yet…. Deep inside he is loving this kid.

Just think if they had Lombard a couple of months ago, I bet it would’ve made a difference in a couple of wins versus losses. Most recently I remember the one where Volpe bubbled the ball in the late innings and then dropped a pop fly in shallow center in the ninth, causing Boone to bring in Bednar so he wasn’t available the following night when they lost.

@YankeeSource Volpe doesn't get there, and even if he does, he bounces that throw about 10 feet short and it's a base hit

@YankeeSource Yeah Kay was buggin that was a BIG TIME play and deserved a bit more fire in the booth.

@YankeeSource Cause Kay is a Volpe guy. “What did he do wrong”. Blah blah blah. He sucked at SS and didn’t change positions.

@YankeeSource O'neill puts it best. These are plays we haven't seen made this year.

@YankeeSource Say what you want about Michael Kay being a Yankee broadcaster legend or longtime radio guy—his play-by-play just never hit me with those chills.

@YankeeSource The offense will take time but the defense is solid so far

@YankeeSource That play and the running catch by Garcia allowed the Yankees to win this game. Pitching and defense are the only weapons we can rely on right now

@YankeeSource I’m extremely impressed with Lombard that kid is money

@YankeeSource Before August is over moron-idiot, bad decision Boone is going to seat him to give him a break because he is "tired". WHATCH!!.

@YankeeSource Michael Kay hates the fact that his golden boy aka " the kid" got sent down

@YankeeSource It's 3 dps in 2 games, made a good one today.

@YankeeSource Volpe or Cabby do not make that play .

@YankeeSource Kay saving the big time call for when Volpe’s next to him at second.

@YankeeSource HUGE play.

@YankeeSource Kay is a walking corpse when it comes to calls atp, rucco wouldve exploded with that play

@YankeeSource Not only the strength of his arm, but to be able to spin and drill the ball right to the 1st baseman's glove 🙌👏

@YankeeSource The human physics of that play is crazy

@YankeeSource What a play and what a cannon. This guy’s a stud!!

@YankeeSource That is a base hit he took away!

@YankeeSource The fact that we had to accept less than this, is unacceptable. #VolpeWho?

@YankeeSource Kay is a Volpe groupie

@YankeeSource Kay knows where his paycheck comes from and let’s just leave it at that

@YankeeSource Lombard having funy Taken care of business at SS
