The most downloaded AI on earth is now Chinese. Alibaba just gave away a model that matches Claude's flagship, and it literally runs on a $700 used graphics card. The Qwen models crossed 3 BILLION downloads in six months. Hugging Face counted 418 million downloads for Google this year, and 227 million for Meta. Alibaba cleared more than four times both of them combined. Then today it released Qwen3.8-27B under an Apache 2.0 license. The model has 27 billion parameters, native vision, and a 262,000 token context window. Developers are running it locally on 17 gigabytes of memory, on used cards that cost a few hundred dollars. Alibaba's own benchmark table claims it beats Opus 4.6 Max on computer use by 84.3 to 72.7, on mobile use by 81.9 to 62, and on visual math by 94.6 to 65.5. Those numbers come from the vendor and nobody has independently verified them yet, so treat them as a claim. But the generation over generation jumps are harder to wave away: On DeepSWE the score went from 13.3 to 42.2. On software engineering it went from 49.3 to 79.0. That happened in ONE release cycle. And Apache 2.0 means anyone can download the weights, modify them, build products on them, sell those products, and never pay or ask permission. It cannot be revoked. Once the file is on your drive it is yours permanently. 3 billion downloads means those files already sit on machines in every country on Earth. Alibaba could delete everything tomorrow and it would change nothing. Washington spent 4 years building an export control regime around chips, model weights, and entity lists. Every piece of it assumes a chokepoint exists somewhere. A fab, a shipment, a company that can be told no. But there is no chokepoint for a file that has already been copied three billion times. And the copying compounds. Hugging Face counted 151,448 models built on top of Qwen, which is 2.6x Meta's entire footprint and 4.7x the number of Llama repositories. New ones appear at roughly 200 a day. The report says Qwen has become "part of the default workflow for developers deciding what models to fine-tune and deploy." Alibaba is also pushing Qwen through its cloud into Southeast Asia and Africa, markets where American labs have almost no presence, and where a very large share of the next generation of developers will learn to build. Meta and Nvidia have both rushed out new open models in recent weeks. That is what a response looks like when you feel the floor move. And to be clear, these are download and derivative numbers, not usage numbers. ChatGPT and Claude cannot be downloaded at all, so they do not appear in this comparison. What the figures measure is what developers choose to build on top of, which is a different question from what consumers type into a box. That is also why it matters MORE. Consumer habits change in an afternoon. Infrastructure choices last a decade, because everything built on top has to be rewritten to undo them. The American labs are valued on an assumption that frontier intelligence stays scarce, expensive, and rented by the token. Alibaba just made a version of it free, permanent, and small enough to run on hardware people already own. You will not get an announcement when the software you use every day starts running on a Chinese model underneath. Go and count how many of the tools you rely on could be rebuilt on free weights this year.

🦦 honestly, back then, whenever i saw negative comments, hmm.. they felt so minor. i could just let it slide and laugh them off, and some of them were actually kind of funny. but at some point, it changed. as the love for us grew and the attention on us increased, the volume of those negative comments grew too. and honestly, it gets really overwhelming at times. 🦦 that's why hearing these sweet words from onedoor makes me so happy and feels so precious.. coming here on live really makes me feel like i'm surrounded by people who are completely on my side, and just hearing nothing but positivity is the best feeling. [reading a comment] "that kind of attention can get scary sometimes" yeah, you are absolutely right. there are definitely times like that. 🦦 that actually reminds me of something zico hyung used to tell us all the time, even before we debuted. he would say "someday, as you guys get more and more attention, there will definitely be moments where it feels really heavy and difficult. that is just what happens when the spotlight gets brighter. but if you stay strong and push through those moments, that is how you rise higher, and that is how you and your fans build an unbreakable bond together" his words have really been staying with me. 🦦 and above all, what i always want to say is that when it comes to receiving love and strength, i don't want to just be on the receiving end (one-sided). i always want to give it right back to you too. whether it's on Weverse or when we meet in person, whenever someone tells me that during their darkest moments.. when they felt completely lost.. they were able to pick themselves back up and find strength because of me, it makes me so happy. even after it's over, i will literally just sit there in a daze, completely overwhelmed by how happy and grateful i am. 🦦 honestly, those are the exact moments when i think to myself "i am so glad i chose this career" when i'm performing on stage, or when the people i care about find the strength to stand back up and keep going without breaking down.. things like that. i think about it again right before i go to sleep. i have even had onedoor literally cry while telling me these things and honestly, i secretly wipe away a tear behind the scenes too.

Easily one of the most impressive use-cases for agentic AI that I've come across thus far. I asked my Grok Grok Bot to make me a daily video on the latest happenings in frontier AI development around the tech, regulations, and development from the last 24 hours. The below is its one-shot result. It used DaVinci to edit the video using MCP with the assistance of Fable/Astra. It automatically captured all information/clips/images/sources. It automatically wrote the script and voiced it using ElevenLabs with my trained voice. It automatically edited and exported the file through DaVinci and dropped it in my downloads folder on my laptop. Here's the full unedited prompt dictated through Whispr Flow: I want to start a brand new project now. I don't know if we're going to need new agents for this but I'll let you decide. What I want to do is create a daily video, primarily internal but also outsourced. We'll put it on a YouTube channel, my channel, or whatever, and turn it into a newsletter where I want to stay on top of all the breaking advancements in AI. I want to stay on top of not just the advancements but also the current events happening, all the leaders, and all the policy around it. I want to always be able to find the highest signal stuff using social cues, like videos that get a lot of views, posts that get a lot of views, or from very well-respected sources that understand the cutting edge. I want to curate the absolute best places to find signal about what's going on in the space of AI. Then I want to turn that into a transcript that we will then turn into a video using our entire DaVinci process with MCP. Think of it as a hardcore news sort of format where the video just goes through the facts of what is happening and the things that are involved, like elite journalism to really describe what is happening. For the video itself we would: - draw sources and put them on the screen - draw B-roll and put it on the screen - add clips to it where relevant, snippets of a leader or somebody talking about those things - add relevant imagery and all that stuff It needs to be top-tier elite-looking, both from the look perspective and the content perspective. We can use Eleven Labs for the voice. You should already have things for that. Just use my voice, my voice profile that's there for the voice itself. The transcript we want to use: we don't want to use my voice. We want to use a very facts-based, neutral, journalistic, to-the-point, zero-opinion format: here's what's happening, here's how, here's why it's happening, here are the parties involved, etc. For the visuals again, use the DaVinci sort of thing that we've set up on the Mac to put the video together. I would love an actual finished video today based on the latest that's happening. We want to focus on the last 24 hours. Ideally the audience for this is people that are investors, high-intelligence individuals, and people that want to stay at the cutting edge but maybe don't have the time or the resources to do it. We want to become a primary place for these people to have access to this. I would love to see what you can come up with and I will let you decide how to spin this up on the backend. We would want to do this literally daily and eventually want to have this automatically uploaded to a YouTube channel, either mine or another channel. We'll create clips out of it but ideally the piece of content itself needs to be so good. I think we have everything we need and it will be even sicker if we can literally bring in clips and add the clips. For example: "This is what happened today. This is all the things that are going on and blah blah blah." Let's say Elon Musk made a comment about this and we actually insert the clip of that comment and then we continue on, etc. Just freaking elite. I want this to be elite.

NEW: Joe Lonsdale at Forum debate at RNC midterms takes on right-wing doomers and calls for "big daddy government" to smother AI and data centers. Joe Allen: However flawed it is, at least the desire to bring these guys [Big Tech / AI labs] under control is best met, however flawed it is, through big daddy government. Joe Lonsdale: I appreciate that perspective, that you're very negative on it. Overall, I think you're attributing a little too much to like the ChatGPT consumer interaction and not enough to the way in which industry is using AI to bring back manufacturing, to solve problems, to raise productivity. The only way we all get wealthier is raising productivity. We're already seeing very clearly signs that it has definitely led to job growth, not job destruction. I agree with you -- there are some people running some of these tech companies who seem to have this doomer PR, which as far as I can tell, is retarded. And if you want to punish them for that, I kind of empathize with you... But don't let them trick you. Because what a lot of them want is a big regulatory apparatus that they can capture. Because if you do create something at the federal level, you can bet the guys with trillions of dollars in their pockets can hire a thousand people that are going to find ways to capture that and use it against the rest of us. We have to be very careful, not just to do what the left wants and give the government all this power, which then will get captured, and then we're all screwed. We are the greatest nation on earth, in my opinion, in large part because of our freedom and our property rights and our checks on government power, our checks on corporate power as well. And because of our innovation sector -- it's tied to all of that. If you're on the left, you're worried about the companies. If you're on the right, you're more worried about government ... I think we're really screwed when the companies and the governments work together ...when those guys get together and come after us. That is what they want. So let's just be really, really careful. Whatever we put in place prioritizes competence, and it's not something they're going to be able to capture and use against us.

Trump is sending the National Guard to 19 different states as part of an effort to help “expedite immigration enforcement and stop crime”. 🚨🚨🚨⚠️⚠️⚠️ You would think that this kind of action would involve mostly blue states, considering that is where the most crime and illegal immigration is, in and around the more blue metropolitan areas. That begs the question…WHY would there be a necessary presence of the Military on U.S. soil in some of the most prominent RED states like Texas, Florida, Idaho, South Dakota etc.? On top of that, the White House just came out with a VERY ALARMING directive yesterday, saying that the “Secretary of Defense will ensure that the National Guard will be on the ready to be deployed and available to assist Federal, State, and local law enforcement in quelling civil disturbances and ensuring the public safety and order whenever the circumstances necessitate.” Make NO mistake…This is DIRECT language that implies, without holding back, that there IS an event, or multiple events coming that will trigger MARTIAL LAW in America. In other words, the Trump Administration IS very clearly preparing for a MASSIVE backlash and disturbances in some form, either organically, or manufactured (false flag), however that plays out is yet to be seen. It’s important to note and is extremely relevant that during the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts which took place in 2005 under George W. Bush, the National Guard was sent in to assist with the recovery efforts and they also were directed to go home to home and CONFISCATE PEOPLE’S FIREARMS in the name of maintaining “public safety”. It is CRITICAL to understand what the GOAL has always been, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with “safety” and EVERYTHING to do with establishing the New World Order technocratic police state on American soil. That is one of the primary goals of the World Economic Forum, United Nations, Bilderberg Group, Club of Rome, Council On Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission etc. These are the Globalist roundtable groups which REALLY control our Government behind the curtain by way of subversion and subterfuge. Those shadow government organizations are the ones who are RUNNING THE SHOW in America, and have been for many decades, all the politicians you see, and the Presidents are ALL puppet to these supergroups. All of these organizations agree on ONE thing…America MUST FALL to be completely under their control, and the thing that is keeping that from taking place is both our 1st and 2nd Amendment RIGHTS. They have been VERY successful in implementing the same gun grabbing TYRANNY in Europe, Australia and Canada, effectively neutering all of these countries, and making sure the people are unable to defend themselves from their rogue, controlled puppet governments when the crack down finally comes. You saw what happened those regions during COVID, that was only a TEST & precursor for what is to come. America…We have some MAJOR PROBLEMS & time is RUNNING OUT.

A generational challenge for the young people of Rwanda 1. Acknowledge the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi was wrong, should never have happened, no justification for it is acceptable civil discourse 2. Nurture a collective consciousness around the genocide, as a means of preventing recurrence. This consciousness should not be in words only; it should be in actions too 3. Understand that genocide happened because Rwandans were divided; as a result, unity is the anti-dote against recurrence. The pursuit of unity is not for its own sake; it has a practical objective 4. Building a country never ends, it’s eternal. We build it better and faster only when united. We destroy it faster than we can build it when divided. 5. You can choose the identity you want; but if the goal is unity (the requirement for building the country) then the identity of unity that we have is the Rwandan identity. We know the destruction that came from the identities of Hutu and Tutsi. 6. Good thing is that identity is what you choose to be. I have a story. A Burundian researcher asked families of Rwandan and Burundians who were alive during colonial rule. He asked the husband “what is your identity?” The husband responded “we are of the Gisaka identity,” referring to one of the regions in pre colonial society; others said they are Abagesera, Abanyenduga, and so on. He asked “what is the identity of your children?” The father said, “they are Hutus.” The perplexed researcher then asked, “how is it possible that you do not have the same identity as your children?” The father said, “those ones were born during the colonial period!” 7. So young people don’t have to use the excuse of taking their parents’ identity that meant destruction when they can choose an alternative that can lead them to the future they want. 8. The choice is there for young people to make; but the right choice will not happen on its own by accident. It must be a deliberate pursuit. Young people must exercise their agency and let their youthfulness come to bear in actively creating that country of their dreams!

My Yearly Re-Post From 9/11 "I need your kiss...But Love and Duty called you someplace higher... I was there that sickening day back in 2001. The images are vividly tattooed in my brain. Driving to work as I do every day I would take the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. While we were in the tunnel we had heard on the radio that a "small plane" crashed into one of the Twin Towers. As we exited the tunnel, we were at a standstill for what seemed like an eternity. All we could do was watch the first tower in flames. Then just minutes after, as if everything just went into slow motion, I witnessed that second plane hit the Tower in real time, just 2 blocks away from where I was stranded. It just didn't seem real to me. Like everyone else you're just frozen, until you have that "moment" to process the impossible. But that's not the image that always "hits me". The image that will always shake me is replaying the chaos after the reality set in. We just left our cars, and ran from the Towers towards the FDR drive. As we ran from the hell behind us, I'm passing those Brave Firemen RUNNING INTO those burning towers without a thought of hesitation. To this day it's unfathomable to me. The term Heroes, Courage and Bravery are not nearly enough to describe those men and women. That day I was blessed and saved. Unlike countless others I was able to come home. I NEVER take that for granted. But every 9/11 anniversary, I also remember, that in the days and weeks after those horrifying attacks, how everyone came together. How all our other “problems”, the ones we thought were so "bad" and “important”, became insignificant. All the hate and barriers we built against each other were instantly cast aside. For a small time we unselfishly, and without a thought, helped one another, no matter what race, religion, or color. We became just one human race. We showed during that time, that we are capable to put aside all the pettiness, hate, stupidity and live the way G-D intended us to. Unfortunately as time passed, we slowly reverted back. I guess the shame of it all is that it shouldn’t have to take a “tragedy” to help one another, to be good to one another, or to wake us up and remind us what’s really important in life. To stop complaining about such insignificant matters, because as we remember every year on 9/11 , it could be so much worse. So much worse. We will NEVER forget the events on that sickening day. But we should also never forget during that time, how easily we rose above all of our differences, how we treated one another, and most importantly how that day reminded us how important and short life is. It shouldn’t take a tragedy for us to realize that it isn’t that hard, or even impossible. Today where we use the term "Heroes" so loosely for Rock Stars or Sport figures. Those are not heroes. The firemen, the policemen, the first responders, the volunteers, and of course the fallen on that world changing day, THOSE people are your definition of the term: HEROES. Today we remember the fallen. May Your Strength Give Us Strength May Your Faith Give Us Faith May Your Hope Give Us Hope May Your Love Give Us Love 😞 🙌🏻 🙏🏻 🚒 🚓 🇺🇸 #9/11 #NeverForget911

💌DPR Ian 260629 FROMM update part. 2 - transcription “thank you for those messages guys. i’m reading them. just want to say i appreciate all the messages. anyway yeah it's,you know what i realized? you know,i feel like dreamers is such a,it's such a correct term for our fandom, but also,it's too small of a word to contain who we are. i realized what makes us so strong and so unique is just the fact that we have all of each other's backs when it gets tough. there are a lot,i know there are a lot of our fans that are so diverse. and not just that, are diverse in terms of what they go through. i mean,we all go different things in this world. but for a community to come together and celebrate one another,we go through something so hard in this world and sometimes the world is really not kind to us. but the fact that we've always tried to push each other, not away, but to find resilience and salvation within ourselves,is what makes this fandom what it is. and i couldn't be more proud and i couldn't be more prideful about who i was representing. i just wanted to take this night to really say that i think dreamers are probably one of the most,i think, strongest and proud, but also the most intuitive fans anyone could really have. and for that,i’m always going to be thankful. and gosh,i couldn't have anyone better. who we've become, sorry, how we've come together as a collective, really goes beyond words and really goes beyond i think understanding,to be honest. but we are always going to be there in the dark and of course in the light. but it really does matter when you're there in the dark. i think that shows true color. and time and time, you have proven not to me,but to everybody in the team and to yourselves, that you are there for me especially. so yeah, you guys are the light and whenever you need somebody to be your light,i’m going to do my best to do so. but indo hope in the midst of it,dreamers will be the light to other dreamers as well. because, you know,at the end of the day,we're all here,we're all in it together. you know, tomorrow might be a stop,or the next,or in a few years. god knows what. but till then, all we can really do is thrive and i guess just keep dreaming. but i just wanted to say how proud i am of us. how truly proud i am of us. and you guys should also be,also be so much,be so much proud of who you guys are and what you guys represent. you guys aren't just fans at this point. you guys also are a representation of DPR. and i…” *in the korean part,he says that sometimes he speaks to us (fans) in banmal (반말) the informal way of speaking in korean, and it really depends on the moment. he adds that he’ll use it every now and then

Blaming Ordinary People For The Ecocidal Consequences Of AI, And Other Notes I just saw an article in The Conversation titled “Your AI habit is wasting precious resources. Here’s how to use it responsibly,” and it pisses me off because you can already see where this is going. Neoliberalism is already doing that thing where they shift all the blame for the environmental consequences of ecocidal capitalism to the individual consumer, like how they told everyone to ride bikes and recycle instead of regulating the corporations who are actually destroying our biosphere. There are plenty of reasons why we should all avoid using AI, but the push to offload all the responsibility for the ecological consequences of data centers onto individual users instead of just regulating AI companies is typical capitalist power-serving bullshit. This is especially the case when AI is being aggressively shoved down our throats on every front, and when we all know most of this AI infrastructure being built up all around us is probably just going to wind up going toward mass surveillance and the western war machine. Telling people not to use ChatGPT to make shitty memes isn’t going to save us from the ecological fallout of the AI-driven facial recognition murder drones we’ll have patrolling our skies in the future of this increasingly dark dystopia. ❖ A UN independent inquiry issued a report on Tuesday finding that Israeli forces have been deliberately targeting Palestinian children, saying Israel is guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza, as well as war crimes in the West Bank. I have said it before and I will say it again: the single dumbest conspiracy theory of all time is that there’s a secret plot between all the world’s mainstream humanitarian institutions to falsely portray Israel as a genocidal apartheid state. ❖ My new thing is just telling hasbarists “Nobody believes you.” Because nobody does. Nobody’s buying the “Israel did nothing wrong because words words words words” schtick anymore. No amount of words can paper over all the horrifying shit we’ve seen these last few years. There’s no real point trying to win a debate with an Israel apologist; they’ll always ignore all facts, reason and ethical concerns and just make whatever noises they need to make to advance the interests of their prize ethnostate. But by putting a “Nobody believes you” under their hasbara screeds it lets all the normal people know that they’re not the only ones who smell bullshit. And that’s all you really need to do. Communicate to everyone that they don’t actually have to engage the mountains of words justifying transparently horrible actions, and that it’s fine to trust your instincts on this one. There’s no amount of words you can throw at someone to manipulate their thinking if they already know you’re a liar. ❖ The other day the IDF issued a statement complaining that “Hezbollah launched 50+ projectiles toward IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon.” I’m sorry, operating where? It’s been bananas watching the hasbara machine trying to spin Lebanese people firing upon hostile invaders inside Lebanon as some kind of unwarranted act of aggression. After the 2024 “ceasefire”, Israel attacked Lebanon on a daily basis; this happened for months on end without a single kinetic response from Hezbollah. The mass-scale murdering resumed after Hezbollah fired a few rockets when the US and Israel launched the war on Iran, following month after month after month of daily IDF attacks on southern Lebanon. Hasbarists have been trying to frame the IDF invasion as Israel going in to protect itself from unprovoked attacks by “terrorists”, but the violence has been unbelievably one-sided by Israeli forces, with Hezbollah exhibiting remarkable restraint. Israel is very clearly and undeniably the aggressor here, and it’s absolutely hilarious that we’re being asked to view them as innocent little victims when they’re attacked by Lebanese men in Lebanon during an active military invasion. ❖ Oh those people are terrorists, you say? What terrorist things are they doing? Oh, they’re killing military forces who are invading their country? Okay. Oh and those other people are terrorists, you say? What did they do? Oh, they broke into a weapons factory and destroyed military equipment intended for use in an active genocide? Okay. Oh and those other people over there are terrorists also? What evil terrorist crimes are they guilty of? Oh, they held pieces of cardboard with the words “I Support Palestine Action” on them? Okay. Maybe I just don’t understand what terrorism is, then. ❖ Reading by Tim Foley:
