Yeah no, the characterization in this is great

You know.... If Pepper actually said this here, it would be warranted.

They gotta get Velan to make a new Star Fox game

Unironically one of my favorite parts about this remake is how lived in and real this world feels, and Team Star Fox just are enjoyable characters to see interact

my god Fox's design looks so fucking bad his running animation can't be real

It’s been looking fun from what I’ve seen. How’s the multiplayer? I haven’t seen that yet

He might look like his father and has the same talent to fly but I am sure that focus on money is from his mother 😅

That stuck up half-witted scruffy-looking nerf herder.

Oh thank god, the voice acting is actually good. Bro, those snippets they posted a couple days ago made the Starfox members sound like they were just reading off a script. 💀

i love the new characterization so, so much. titania specifically is a direct upgrade. they used the more robust cutscenes to their advantage for sure

I really hope this team gets to flex a lot more with a new game

I never realized Star fox and the commander had such a strained relationship back when I played the old games. This was refreshing to see

I personally disagree, they made Fox more heavily interested in just the money and being cocky, he was all that but not at this level with General Pepper. There was some respect between them which led the events of Assault more powerful.

"Hey, Pepper, we're doing this for money, and you still owe us for the services we rendered."

I hope we get sequels done like this, more planets, cutscenes between the missions expand the characters and universe

They could’ve actually added the new contracts as bonus levels now that you think about it. Maybe a few and what route you take determines which ones.

Pepper trying to dogsplain like usual

The writting is great. The voice acting, not so much.

Fox, “This is cool and all but a Corneria Military paycheck will not pay off my inherited 80 year Dreadnought loan lol. Also you got my Dad killed so respectfully pound sand.”

This shit looks like a star fox parody

Falco can't get out of there fast enough

Is the voice in his comms Yuri Lowenthal?

The only thing I don't like about this game after beating both routes is Fox's design. The rest I'm really enjoying

LMAO look at this hunched little fox with the terrible voice acting. Yeah no, we lost all the sauce, all the aura.

Honestly the only "issue" I've had since this thing was announced is just the vocal delivery, and I think most of THAT is due to having heard only the original N64 voice lines for decades. No clue if I'd feel any kind of way about it if this was their point of origin.

I do feel like some lines needed a bit more heat to them. Like Fox when talking to Pepper about Slippys crash on Titania, but the new vocals are pretty good.

Nice gameplay

I genuinely have no idea what people are talking about with mischaracterization. Everything in 26 has been pitch perfect

Idk. Fox kinda sounds like a sly fox. No pun intended with that whole mercenary shit.

Does it freshen up the game enough to get past the "It's Starfox 64 again" feelings?

I don’t know, I just feel like the whole story is missing some emotional beats. Star Fox only gets involved because they are being paid, and that is all we get. You would think Fox would have a personal vendetta against Andross for killing his father, but he never mentions it or acts like he cares. Peppy does not, either. And at the end, when Fox sees his dad return to save him, he once again shows almost no reaction. He just looks around afterward, questioning whether what he saw was real. In the original, Fox called out to him, “FATHER,” and after escaping, he searched the sky with a real sense of longing. That moment used to carry emotional weight, but here it feels empty. This is where the Nintendo Power comics really got it right. Their version of Fox was enraged and furious whenever Andross was mentioned, and he would stop at nothing to bring him down. You felt the personal stakes, you felt the fire behind his actions. I appreciate the added story content between stages, but I really wish they had built stronger personal connections between the characters instead of keeping every conversation strictly business. The story needs heart, and right now it feels like everyone is just going through the motions.

Voice direction is still awful, why does Fox sound like such a twink???
