Repairing Underground Cables. NO Road Damage At numerous locations within Brookefields Layout, we have installed ducts and chambers to access underground cables and valves. Last Monday was the most recent cable fault. Where typically the road is hacked out and a crater left behind, here we simply un-weld the duct lid. When the underground cable is mended, we re-weld the lid. No road damage. Minimal traffic stoppage. Aside from allowing access, the duct, made of structural steel, protects 8-10 cable joints from hammering by ongoing traffic, and has reduced cable faults from once per month to once a year. A reminder that this duct was built with locally sourced money (Rs. 10 lakhs), and its design was provided by a local structural engineer. Local engineering talent. Local funding. Local execution. Local problem-solving.

FSD V14.2.2.3 begins to execute a blind right turn that leads directly toward a one-lane covered bridge. Without any yield signs or prior notice until half way through the turn, FSD recognizes the structure as a one-lane structure and yields with plenty of distance, making sure the bridge is clear of oncoming traffic before proceeding. BEWARE OF MUMBAI TRAFFIC POLICE NEGLIGENCE! Thanks to my dashcam, otherwise this totally incompetent Mumbai Traffic Police lady constable (who was very rude btw) would have extorted money from me for no fault of mine! As you can see in the video, I cross the stop line VERY comfortably when the light is green. When I am half way across the wide highway on which this light is situated is when the light turns orange. And then red at the point where there is a bottleneck created by these very traffic police operating under the flyover. The lady traffic constable in concern isn't even looking at my car or the light the whole time. She was busy looking somewhere else and just turns and looks at my car when I have already crossed the entire road, and she gestures me to stop, pointing at the light, indicating that I jumped it! After this, what is not recorded, because I stopped the recording to show it to her is even more shocking. She came up to me and said I jumped the light. I said no it turned red well after I crossed it, to which she rudely said "kaahi hi bolu naka" which means "dont talk rubbish"! Wow! After that I showed her the video, but SHE STILL INSISTED THAT I WAS WRONG AND I SHOULD PAY THE FINE. SERIOUSLY! NO KIDDING! This is her judgement making ability and she is in law and order? Her last plea to me was that why dont I pay, the fine is just Rs. 500! “Aaya hai to kuch deke hi jaana” attitude?? Our current, variable road widths disrupt the orderly flow of traffic. For example, if there's just a bit of extra space on the side, auto-rickshaws attempt to squeeze in, causing chaos. That’s because flight planning is a mix of science, safety, and flexibility. 🌐 One reason for changes is ATC flow management. Think of it like traffic lights in the sky, with thousands of aircraft moving through shared corridors, air traffic control sometimes adjusts our routes to keep the system flowing smoothly and safely. But today’s change wasn’t about traffic. It was about performance planning. Departing Delhi, our A350 was heavy with fuel and passengers, and the original routing led straight into an area of very high terrain. With a twin-engine aircraft, we always consider the “what if”: if one engine were to fail, how would the aircraft perform? Safety means ensuring we can still fly clear of terrain even under those conditions. That’s where ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations) and drift down procedures come in. ETOPS rules let two-engine aircraft fly long oceanic and remote routes, but only with strict planning to guarantee diversion options. Drift down is the scenario where, after losing one engine, we calculate how the aircraft can descend to a level where it can safely continue flight and clear terrain. These are baked into every flight plan, and sometimes, the numbers don’t add up and they mean taking the longer way around. So today, instead of climbing northwest out of India, we turned south. The routing took us over Oman and the UAE, up the length of the Gulf, across Iraq, and back into our original track over western Turkey. That’s also where we passed one of my favourite places: the airfield named Batman 🦇. 👨‍✈️ It’s a great reminder that flying isn’t just point-to-point. Every route is carefully designed with safety, performance, and the flow of global air traffic in mind. It also means that we had a great opportunity to get some air-to-air pics of other aircraft. The Ragi Gudda to Silk Board flyover in Bengaluru has been ready for ages. Every few months we hear that the second side will be open for traffic next month.. But again delayed. Today, I saw :- Runners Walkers Children doing roller skating. Mothers making reels. College boys teaching driving to girlfriends. Broken beer bottle glass pieces. Legends throwing garbage well before inauguration. A multipurpose "father of all flyovers" which was built using crores of our tax money, but aging for months/years without inauguration. Maybe they want us to complete 50 runs over this before someone from the government wakes up and works on inauguration plans 😃

I have chosen to drive my Tesla on FSD multiple times instead of flying. In the past year, I’ve done multiple ~20-hour days driving continuously on FSD, covering over 1,000 miles daily without ever needing to touch the steering wheel. We just took a trip from Toronto to Nashville as well. It was 900 miles one way, which we completed in a single day (18 hours), and it was way more economical (and fun) than flying. Before that, I did Toronto to Austin, TX (3,200 miles round trip) TWICE in July and November — all in my Model 3 Performance. Would I attempt these drives without FSD? No way. I literally push a button on the screen, and the car handles all the charging stops, traffic, navigation, and everything. It’s so easy. If you’re an avid road tripper, there’s no better car to do it in than a Tesla.

WOW v14.3.2 is very decisive and is able to execute with great confidence. Big fan. That said, in my first drive it messed up *spectacularly* twice in <15 miles of suburban driving. In one instance, it swerved out of its through lane of traffic into a lane that was ending, right as it was ending. It was not trying to overtake any vehicles, it just swerved over violently. ugh The other, in the video below, it did not consider that the left lane was turn-only, and tried to use it overtake other vehicles while their light was red. (this intersection begins with left turn green and through-lanes red) It is still very slow to merge into the proper lane in time for a turn, and ended up cutting off a large truck to make its turn. Could it have completed its maneuvers and continued without intervention? Yes. Would it be safe or legal to do so? No. Plenty of work left to do on FSD.

He was driving a motor vehicle which probably had good safety features on a smooth road without pot holes. It is easy to draw conclusions like he was speeding, he was fatigued, he lost control of his motor vehicle, he made errors, e.t.c. Whereas all that may be true, did he deserve to die in such a gruesome way for those errors in judgement? The answer is a BIG NO. The truth is government failed him in so many ways. At the center of modern day road safety management is recognition that errors made by road users (drivers, motorcyclists, cyclist and pedestrians) MUST NOT lead to their demise. Here is a situation he found himself in: Concrete Barriers on a road that encourages high speed. Who has the onus to remove this hazard? Government. I could have perished in the same circumstances a few years back before the completion of the KEE on the way to the Airport. It was a rainy early morning at about 5:00am and I drove through barriers which were made of plastic. So why were these not made of plastic? Was there a provision for lighting on that section? If not, it should have been there. This is what we mean when we say roads should be forgiving. Apart from their design, road sides are the major reference here. These kind of barriers would have caught his attention and he would have stopped his car instead of killing him. Were the traffic lights functional? As I was walking out I saw that there were a group of people at the corner, just hanging out and having a smoke, it was dark and I couldn’t see how many there was. I turned around and went back into the store. I let the clerk know and he looked out to see what was going on and he saw them too. He said to be careful because sometimes gang members like to hang out by that corner. I couldn’t call the police because they technically weren’t doing anything but I wasn’t about to find out either.
