Back to the Future. It’s a defining, all-time summer blockbuster that almost didn’t happen had Robert Zemeckis not realized that Eric Stoltz was not suited to play Marty McFly. Zemeckis deserves eternal credit for recognizing that Michael J. Fox was better suited for the role & it literally made the entire difference. If Stoltz remained as McFly, there’s no chance the trilogy is anywhere near as good as it is & Rob is responsible.

Tal vez no sabías que Eric Stoltz fue el primer Marty McFly en "Regreso al futuro". Robert Zemeckis, su director, quería a Michael J. Fox, pero el actor canadiense estaba comprometido con el rodaje de "Enredos de familia" y le era imposible compatibilizar ambos rodajes. Después de mes y medio de grabación, Zemeckis decidió despedir a Stoltz porque resultaba demasiado dramático para el papel. Al ser un actor de método, se tomaba todas sus escenas tan en serio que llegó a agredir físicamente a Biff y sus pandilleros en alguna de las escenas. Incluso Christopher Lloyd llegó a decir que haber hecho la película con Eric Stoltz habría resultado en una versión mucho más oscura. El despido de Stoltz supuso millones de dólares en volver a rodar nuevas escenas y obligó a Michael J. Fox a rodar durante 21 horas al día a lo largo de varias semanas, pero todos sabemos que valió la pena porque Fox fue la mejor decisión posible.
