@aviesmiley This arc was canonized by Mashima. The events were mentioned in the manga later on. Many people don't watch it because part of the fandom found the beginning of the arc boring, and so it was mistakenly spread around that it's filler and not important to the main story.

@aviesmiley I definitely recommend watching it, though. There are a lot of fun moments, characters who don't usually interact get a bit more spotlight. Plus, we learn more about the Celestial Spirit Mages and why they're so rare

@aviesmiley The site i use has a group of mixed cannon/filler, i found those eps to still be in line with the story. It seems like thats a better place for this arc, maybe it was made important later but wasnt initially, ive seen that happen
