I’ve received many questions about applying this to real firearms, so here’s my answer. Firearm ownership is restricted in Japan, but ballistic data is publicly available, so the system includes profiles for several handgun and rifle rounds—purely as a joke. Examples include 9×19mm , .45 ACP, 5.56mm NATO, and 7.62mm NATO. When switched to “live-ammo mode,” the ballistic engine switches to a completely different calculation and renders trajectories up to 2,000 meters. That said, I’ve never actually used it, so whether it’s accurate is anyone’s guess.

Today, Russia carried out a record strike in terms of the use of ballistic missiles. There were 28 cruise missiles, as well as 43 missiles of various types that approach their targets along a ballistic trajectory and can be intercepted only by Patriot systems. This means that missiles for these systems are needed and that deliveries must be prompt. I discussed this with Mark today, and I hope we will be able to implement everything we agreed on. We value Germany's leadership in strengthening our air defense through bilateral support and substantial contributions to the PURL initiative. Thanks to this, we are able to procure anti-ballistic missiles that are in short supply. This is especially important now, as Russia is counting on brutal ballistic strikes to enable it to continue the war. We are also preparing a Drone Deal with Germany and working to establish a joint European anti-ballistic system. I am grateful to Germany, and personally to Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz, for the support and for the steps being taken toward European anti-ballistic defense. This is the only way to guarantee reliable protection of lives across Europe from missile threats.

I briefed the Secretary on the consequences of this onslaught against life and on our needs, as Russia seeks to significantly ramp up its ballistic missile production ahead of winter. We discussed how the UK could help Ukraine better protect our cities and communities from such ballistic threats – both bilaterally and multilaterally – just as it has done many times before by helping secure supplies of scarce defensive equipment. In particular, we discussed opportunities to establish coproduction of certain types of weaponry, as both the UK and Ukraine possess strong battle-proven capabilities. We also discussed sanctions against Russian enterprises involved in the production of ballistic missiles. Every effort to undermine Russia’s war machine and its bet on ballistic terror matters. Thank you to the United Kingdom, His Majesty, the Prime Minister, and the British people for your unwavering support.
