Yes this is Winnipeg Canada. The Dollarama security guard is using brass knuckles on an alleged shoplifter. Our country has become unrecognizable.

Why not. Cops aren't even going to attend the call. What has to change in this country is the incentive structure. And right now, that structure favours criminal activity.

I have no issue with a security guard using weapons to down a shop lifter. We need more of this to deter these criminals.

The security guard deserves a raise and maybe some help. He probably gets assaulted multiple times a day but is actually trying to do his job.

Honestly, im siding with the security guard. Cops dont do anything in this country but hand out speeding tickets and arrest people with different opinions than the government. Need more vigilante justice to get some order in canada. To many people have the idea they can get away with anything now (which they can)

Most Canadians don't recognize it because we've become a cowardly, impotent population. I bet this legend of a security guard comes from a place where there's consequences for putting your hands on a man, or stealing. We need more of this.

I’m old enough to remember the days when you could shop at your local Dollarma without any fuss. No foreigners shoplifting $100 worth of inventory and no foreign security guards willing to beat the daylights out of you. Wish we could just turn back the clock and go back to the old Canada - when shoppers paid for what they wanted and we didn’t need security guards at Dollarama.

I see nothing wrong here. Shoplifters need a deterrent. This is a deterrent.

Unfortunately, it’s more likely the security guard will be charged with excessive force, assault with a deadly weapon and that type of thing. The thief may also find an injury lawyer to sue for additional damages including mental and otherwise. Until our laws change, the system protects criminals.

Winnipeg is a terrible city. I visited last month, and the roads were in an absolute state of disrepair. There are potholes everywhere—not a single decent stretch of road—as if the local government has completely abandoned maintenance. The streets are filthy and crawling with homeless people, which makes the whole place feel quite intimidating.

We definitely need more than this. The more people steal the more hard-working citizens have to pay.
