Three of them were written from the authors’ own memories, though Mark actually transcribed the gospel as told by Peter, making it, in essence, Peter’s gospel. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the synoptic gospels because they share so many similarities, but it is only with all four that you get the complete picture.
