As part of the Ebola response in 🇨🇩DRC, World Health Organization (WHO), with support from World Food Programme, delivered 80 cubic metres of equipment and essential supplies to Bulape – navigating difficult terrain from Kananga, where no proper road exists. The 250 km journey took four days to complete. These supplies are vital to sustaining frontline operations, including clinical care, infection prevention and control, and disease surveillance.

In less than 24 hours, WHO African Region has delivered nearly 12 tonnes of emergency supplies to support the #Ebola response in the #DRC 🇨🇩 Today, WHO’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Hub in #Nairobi 🇰🇪 dispatched 4.7 tonnes of medical supplies and equipment to Bunia, with critical airlift support from MONUSCO. Another 7 tonnes of supplies arrived in Bunia from Kinshasa on 17 May, alongside 35 World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministère de la Santé RDC experts and first responders. WHO and partners are moving fast to scale up lifesaving support.

A bigger team of medics, two mobile laboratories, and logistics support is also en route to the DRC to join the Ebola fight. This joint Uganda-DRC initiative aims to strengthen the cross-border Ebola response by reducing the movement of Ebola patients into Uganda seeking care, curbing cross-border transmission, and ending the outbreak sooner.
