Yesterday the Sun produced this moderate-class #SolarFlare. Despite its smaller size, it was a long duration event, continuing for several hours and providing this hypnotic view of beautiful coronal rain (seen in yellow) and Supra-arcade Downflows (seen in cyan). Mesmerising!

The Kankakee Supercell is one of the most unbelievable Storms I’ve seen in a long time. This Supercell was an absolute MONSTER. It ⬇️ • Maintained a Mesocyclone for OVER 7 HOURS • Triggered 7 PDS Tornado Warnings • Produced the FIRST Tornado Emergency of the year This thing was a Tornado producing machine for HOURs. God, please be with the people affected by this Storm. Please give them your abundant LOVE 🙏

THE BIGGEST ERUPTION I HAVE EVER SEEN! I have been observing the Sun professionally for over 50 years and this is the largest filament eruption I have seen. Note it covers over half the Sun, compare it to the size of the Earth (inset) but amazingly it did not produce a big flare.

Pray for rain in the Texas Panhandle. Wildfires are popping up somewhere almost every single day now. Dry lightning, brutal wind, and barely a drop of rain behind it. The grass is like gasoline right now. Honestly, this is some of the worst fire conditions I’ve seen in a long time.

The second of today’s X-class solar flares was truly a long-duration event. Where typical flares last 10s of minutes, this event took over 6 hours. The flare also showed a fundamental part of solar flares: a ‘current sheet’. #spaceweather 1/5

A large coronal hole located in the northern hemisphere of the Sun has rotated into view. It will be Earth center and then geoeffective in 4 and then ~6 days respectfully. Last time it was located in there ~28 days ago, we observed a burst of global seismic activity (M7.5, M7.3, M7.4) in a short time frame, and there is quite a track record of events linking large Earth-facing coronal holes and high-magnitude earthquakes together. Additionally this coronal hole is a negative polarity meaning its magnetic field easily connects to Earth's magnetic field. This is another important variable. This coronal hole's high-speed-stream will be geoeffective when we're in a convergence of critical planetary geometry (E-Me-Ma-Sa, Me-Sun-Ju, E-V-U, V-Sa-Ne) April 20th (+- 3 days each side) and Comet C/2025 R3 PANSTARRS will be just outside Mercury's orbit for its closest approach to the Sun (perihelion) on April 19th during this convergence. All of these factors together along with numerous outer planet geocentric transits happening as well suggest there's a much higher chance than normal of significant Earth events occurring around this time ~04/20/2026.

5 years ago I booked an air bnb with my friends on our girls trip. My bedroom was facing the Burj Khalifa and the water fountains. I woke up at 1pm, looked outside the window and saw the water fountains going on, sun shining into it and creating a beautiful rainbow. It was the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen and I said to myself one day I’m gonna live here with the exact same view. Today, this is my view every morning and this is finally what I can call my home:

Just hours before Huygens landed on Titan on Jan 14, 2005, there was a rare transit of Earth and the Moon across the Sun as seen from Saturn. It’s an event that happens only about once every 15 years, and a dead-center transit like that only twice per millennium.
