Above all, I'm very happy that this will be a vehicle for our kids to work on exactly the causes that shaped David's work, including advocacy for kids in shelters and orphanages who are the easiest to target with budget cuts, who have no voice, and thus little chance at life:

9 months in the hospital? wow they really wanted him there to die >Miranda was hospitalized on 6 August 2022 at Clínica São Vicente, in Gávea, to treat a gastrointestinal infection. He then suffered from a series of successive infections, including a case of sepsis. He died on 9 May 2023, a day before his 38th birthday, after being hospitalized in an ICU for nine months

Hosted by the great Brazilian actor Jonathan Azevedo, himself raised in a Rio favela. We also commemorated the Institute's own work in his name: a community center in Jacarezinho where David grew up: providing free educational classes, psychological services, addiction counseling, sports training. We also support tennis leagues and courts for kids in communities with no courts. And of course our homeless-run animal shelter Abrigo Hope where we're doubling our capacity to care for abandoned animals. David's extraordinary spirit, legacy and purpose not only lives on but continues to expand:
