The concept of marriage needs to go too for me..because, this concept only focuses on the two people. It somehow sidelines the families that are actually the ones who should be building and forming a unity, Stopping the payment thing would be good for those who are burdened to make the nonsensical payment. Lobola itself can never stop as it is not a payment. Payment yona can stop yes.

Who made Lobola a subject of concern? Is it important to a woman in today's society? Why is transactional more than spiritual and familial? Why pay lobala and then marry in church? These are questions couples should answer.

Absolutely, the problem started with christianising and with changing from operating as families to adopting the Western ways where there is contracts.

Finally someone said what I've saying for year. I lobola has become a scam and is the biggest hindrance for marriage in the black community. Please give me funny looks when I say my daughters won't be lobolad.

Is lobola considered a marriage in Xhosa and Zulu society, if not why. Has there been people who had to go through a divorce process as the state recognise lobola as customary marriage did they argue successfully that there were not married. Curious cause I saw people arguing that lobola is not marriage in those societies, the argument was over Anele claims that she is not married. Please school me 🙏🏾✨
