California is moving closer to a special election on redistricting—firing back at Texas Republicans’ gerrymandering power grab. California Republicans are against it. They’re trying to block it while their party rigs maps in red states. The plan is that a trigger-based redraw would put in place a special election in November. If Texas pushes through partisan gerrymandering, California will revise its map to send more Democrats to Congress. It’s a warning shot. If Republicans want to rig the rules, California’s ready to play hardball.

He fought for the constitution when it was hardest to demand it.

‘F around and find out’ is still the Democrats’ position on redistricting and is even more so our position after the SCOTUS ruling. Hakeem Jeffries is talking about a scenario when Illinois, Maryland, Colorado, and New York are totally blue. We could get 52 seats in California. Democrats support a national gerrymandering ban. Republicans would be wise to support it before this gets even uglier.
