To give credit where its due, at least Ty has an appealing design and personality. The fuckheads in this trailer look like Goanimate characters with personalities ripped from those cynically unfunny Collegehumor parodies.

Difference being, Ty was actually a fun and charming series, plus game companies taking shots at other franchises wasn't new.

I think it works because Video Games (used to) be more openly antagonistic towards each other. See "Sega Does what Nintendon't" and the old Crash ads of the guy in a costume shouting at a Nintendo building. It feels more natural than just 'MY thing better than this other thing.'

Ironically 4 years after this commercial, Ty's developer would went on to created two of the three Legend Of Spyro games. (The underrated reboot phase of the franchise)
