I will give Arraez credit for this. Any PA that lasts over 9-10 pitches versus a STARTING PITCHER is a good PA to me. You just tired out the pitcher and ruined their pitch count. There’s value in that. Reminds me of the 12 pitch AB Crone had versus Verlander. I do think that had an effect on the rest of his outing. However, folks think because he takes statue strike 1s and occasionally works long PAs he has a high pitch per plate appearance number but he’s actually one of the lowest of the team. Which is why he’s so frustrating to me. His approach is very suboptimal. This is all about knowing yourself. He’s not going to walk or strikeout so he’s going to get on base by swinging. Why take cookies down the middle? Yesterday was better though he tried to ambush a first pitch and lined out. I hope he looks to do damage more pull side early in counts but battle later in counts like yesterday. Hopefully he takes more walks too but probably asking for too much. He’s too talented to have one of the worst approaches I’ve ever seen.

In our league the play stops when the ball gets back to the pitcher. So getting it back in fast is everything! Our team was struggling with it so I came up with this game on the fly. One practice. Fixed. And the kids were BEGGING to play it again! Here's how it works: ⚾ Two teams. Defense takes their positions. ⚾ Hit through the full order with a tennis racket and tennis ball. ⚾ Every base touched before the ball gets back to the pitcher = 1 point. ⚾ For example: Pitcher secures the ball between second and third? 2 points. ⚾ Out at first before runner gets there or fly ball caught? The game has gotten so focused on the long ball that this stat has gone way down across baseball in general. For all of the people that keep saying the Steelers stopped Derrick Henry last night after just 5 2nd half carries, here's how the 2nd half started for Derrick Henry in Green Bay. 1st Drive: 1st carry 1 yard 2nd carry 4 yards 3rd carry 1 yard 4th carry -5 yards Drive stalls. 4 total carries 1 yard 2nd drive: 1st carry(3rd down & 5) 10 yards 2nd carry 31 yards Derrick Henry had 1 yard on the 1st 4 carries against Green Bay and proceeded to run all over them the rest of the night. We switched to this Back-4 & it was obvious, with all the Qualification evidence that it was a huge mistake and it's been proven. Belarus, Greece and Denmark were all able to play through our press and it hasn't changed an ounce since those games: > Huge Distances Between Lines > Standing Off or Man for Man Clarity > High-Line or Block Low The fact the same errors happening between games that were 5 days apart is the biggest concern for me. We have been at a camp for 4-weeks now and looked genuinely, so poorly instructed/coached. A mentality swing is required, Clarke was the man to move us forward in 2018 but he isn't the man to take us forward in 2026.

Teams are getting consistent 2nd places in ranked by playing as a full 3 man, gathering heatshields and meds for a lifeline with Gold shield. They can survive on heatshields and meds even when zone 6 is closing in. There needs to be a system in place to increase damage the longer you're in zone, that or make heat shields not work after X zone has passed. This team is top 30 predator by doing this every single game. Pathfinder is also cheating so that's even worse. Apex Legends

With the MLB draft coming up in 21 days, it's time to start prepping some of these guys to transition into pro ball! I fully expect to hear Ariston Veasey's name called EARLY this year. It's easy to see why: ✅ Sits 95 mph ✅ Tops 98 mph ✅ 20" IVB fastball (cut-ride 👀) ✅ Nasty slider ✅ ~60% whiff rate ✅ 32% K rate ✅ .138 BAA ✅ Absolute DOG on the mound The crazy part? Ariston is new to pitching! Not kidding. He had 10 innings in his entire life before I started coaching him last year. He's an elite athlete who is easy to coach because he can actually make adjustments if cued the right way. He dominated hitters this year with only 2 pitches. They're both elite and will play in pro ball. However, the untapped potential here is the best part.
