I don’t think Bengio is far off. They won’t be able to resist. And that goes for whatever other company gets to that level if they get their first. And let’s not forget Stargate when the government will hold the technological power.

Not at all. That's an underestimation of open source.

What these companies will do is say "ok people, we've built AGI, here have a little UBI from us, you're welcome!" and people will respond "this sucks, were supposed to live on this?" and then they will say "well if you're not grateful for us, then f all you freeloaders!"
