So instead of commending him for speaking one of the most challenging languages to learn, they smile & ridicule him. Ignorance is truly the cheapest form of happiness.

When my mother was in Japan in the 1980s, people wanted to touch her hair and couldn't believe her green eyes. These people have never seen a black person IRL. They're curious, i don't think their intentions are mean.

Did they run away from her?

Anti-Blackness is global. This is not surprising. This is not everyone in China but there is a majority that is racist, whether it is fetishization or ignorance. And no, it is not relegated to just China.

I watched the reality series about rich Asians. Seems there's a lot of self hate that runs in that culture also. The big thing for them eyelid surgery.

Some Black Americans talk about how much better it is for us abroad. As someone who has traveled and pays attention to other countries's laws and cultures, I'll stay here in the US, thank you very much. At least I understand my own country's racism and prejudices.

For the Black people that like going to countries where they’ve never seen Black people and enjoy being petted and being the one representative of a black person that they’ve ever seen and stared at and have pictures taken with them… Why??? what is the appeal?
