In the end-of-season availability interviews, Udoka was asked about Cam Whitmore’s role and said he’s been “very clear” with “what’s gonna get you on the court and help you sustain a role” and said they’re looking for “consistency” with him. Consistency happens both on AND off the court. I don’t wanna see Cam Whitmore go because he can contribute to this team, but if he’s having trouble accepting his role then that’s his issue.

I think I'm still going to play 65 games, but it's hard. If you want to be a really good player, help your team get deep in the playoffs, and then come back at it and play 65 games again. I've been All-NBA the last 9 years in a row— 7 times first team. It's hard to be consistent. Just putting that rule there, it doesn't give you a break. I asked if we could write that in.” Pitt knew a moment like that might not come around again, so they went for it. “You know, when was I going to get a chance to do this again? And we did it.” Sometimes a little character interpretation makes it onto the screen.
