YOU CAN BHOP IN MINECRAFT NOW

(kinda...) The new 26.2 Snapshot 1 added new attributes which let you adjust bounciness, friction_modifier, and air_drag_modifier! Air_drag_modifier base was set to 0.2 here :3 Knives and AWP - Dust II Map -

Just to clarify this isn't actually a fully serious post. The main part is modifying air drag which you can adjust to make you accelerate in the air! Unfortunately there's no actual air strafing going on :> There are mods though that attempt in recreating source/quake movement!

This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun I did a couple years ago used a mod that recreates quake movement in Minecraft! Values were definitely changed for the sake of the video, but it shows that there are mods that can recreate bhopping!

theres actually a mod somewhere that emulates bhop physics, my friend made a 1.16 version 2-3 years ago

I grew up playing a lot of bhop/surf, it isn't a serious post at all :P Its been forever so I'm ultra washed now but I know what actual bhopping is 😭

how do you airstrafe specifically? in source you hold A/D and turn left/right, how do you do it in minecraft now?

its not really airstrafing unfortunately :P I wish there was a way to change air movement, but it isn't possible without mods :( I was using W+A and W+D to strafe, you can't strafe with only A/D like source games

i know its not Exactly like source, just asking how youd do it in minecraft compared to source but now i got it

the speed is due to the reduced air drag, it's like how sprint jumping is faster (since less friction) but a lot more exaggerated

its just reduced air drag, there isn't actually any speed gain from the strafing part unfortunately
