You can read any graduate-level textbook in another domain by asking a coding agent to make you an interactive one Here's me learning neuroimaging using nested tooltips to recursively explain concepts and interactive widgets for "gears-level understanding"

Prompt: (edit with a list of courses/concepts you already know, then paste it w the pdf into codex/claude code)

Actually im building this tool as chrome extension. you can do this by just one click. no prompt, no claude

I built the same thing for a hackathon recently but went above and beyond by making it an actual long term learning app usable optimized for Gemma models for privacy and not spending a buck on API inferences.

this is what I've always wanted. having to stop and look up new terms adds so much friction but is necessary for learning. I would love to pair this with adding terms to a spaced repetition system that quizzes me every day so i don't forget.

high level larp, how do you bridge underlying prerequisite concepts?

that is great but how are you certain the context is correct, if you don't have the pre-requisite knowledge

love that people are hand-rolling their own custom Encarta Encyclopedia experiences

This is a really nice way to turn passive reading into active exploration. The nested tooltips seem especially useful when a field has lots of hidden prerequisites.

This is how we should be using automation. Instead of passive reading, you build a custom interface to parse complex systems. It is the same principle as building a local observability dashboard to understand a massive legacy codebase. Interactive feedback loops always beat static ingestion.

nested tooltips are cool until the recursion hits your sanity limit then you realize you built a maze not a textbook

That's kind of a way better version of my that I vibecoded a while ago. I love learning that way.

Turning textbooks into interactive lessons, that's such a smart use of coding agents.

This looks amazing. How long did it take to generate a full book?

I do this but I focus it on generating problems and critiquing answers through a built in chat interface.
