If the victim's father rightfully killed the subhuman criminal, he would be in prison for life, where he would also be killed by them.

We should not degrade ourselves to secondary roles – not when we have a chance to be a great power together. We should not accept that Europe is just a salad of small and middle powers, seasoned with enemies of Europe. When united we are truly invincible. Europe can and must be a global force. Not one that reacts late, but one that defines the future. That would help everyone – from the Middle East to every other region in the world. That would help Europe itself because the challenges we face now are challenges to the European way of life where people matter, where nations matter. Europe can help build a better world. Europe must build a better world. A world without war. But for that, Europe needs strength. For that, we must act together – and act in time. And most of all – we must have the courage to act.

Today is the day of many talks and consultations with our partners. Everyone understands who must take steps to end this war. This is Russia's war, Russia's aggression, and it is Russia that must agree to a ceasefire and engage in real diplomacy that can guarantee peace. Ukraine has unequivocal support, and I am grateful to all partners for that. Everyone agrees that Russia's war against Ukraine is a war in Europe and against Europe. That's why Europe's voice must carry weight in the processes. We are planning certain meetings on the continent. Everyone knows for sure that in Russia, all key decisions are made by one person. And that this person fears U.S. sanctions. And that it is just that Ukraine be a participant in the negotiations. So the format of leaders’ meetings is, in particular, a trilateral format. We discussed this in detail yesterday: several bilateral formats and a trilateral one. I’m grateful to President Trump for his openness to seeking truly effective solutions. Here in Ukraine, we are confident that this war can be ended with a lasting peace. But every step must be carefully considered to hit the mark.

Russian war criminals must absolutely be held accountable for all of this — and today, the summit participants were unequivocal on that: Europe will not forget the moral conclusions drawn from this war. It cannot be allowed for Putin, other Russian criminals, and the Russian state itself to be absolved of responsibility. It is simply impossible to normalize what they did in Bucha, in Mariupol, and in so many other cities and villages. We will continue working to ensure that Russia is held accountable for this war — and that this accountability is tangible. I thank everyone around the world who is helping.

However, sensitive political matters, issues of possible compromises, and the necessary meeting of leaders have not yet been sufficiently worked through. We are counting on the next meeting, and it would be right for it to take place still in February.
