It’s wrong!” To further explain what Tinubu does… Tinubu hears that Nigeria has a population of 200 million people. He thinks to himself “omo, that’s so much money. If all these people start paying tax, we will be richer!” He doesn’t bother to ask, “who among these 200 million people are actually working or doing business that gives them taxable money.” All his mind registers is “widen the tax net. Those who are not paying, should start!” For context, his is actually why he ordered for POS operators to be registered - so that they can be included in the “tax net.” Also, the new telecom levy that will be activated soon is for the same purpose - of widening the tax net. Before you know it, everything will be taxed and no Nigerian will be able to escape it.
