IMO and many many others I might add Ireland, North and south's greatest ever politician. I alway wonder what would have happened if his health allowed him to continue?

@BrianPJRowan John Hume led the way by bringing about inward investment and well paid jobs in employment black spots like Derry He would have been ashamed of the DUP's behavior towards President Biden visit and the fantastic opportunity to sell N.I. as a good place to invest being thrown away

Someone needs to tell Colum

What an invaluable contribution to the great progress this place has made in the last 25 years. A real legacy and a well earned place in history books. Thanks for posting this lovely message.

He has a point but that point falls down when you see what political unionism is all about. They are all about supremacy and triumphalism over nationalists. They will happily drag this place down to its knees if they keep the Catholics down. A United Ireland is necessary.

What a hero. These words always stayed with me.

A political icon who should be respected by everyone, his life was a blessing to us all and particularly the society and city he loved so much.

@CaraHunterSDLP Yet his part turned into a party of snobs

@Anna_Soubry But it is possible to stand steadfast alongside the flag of an institution that costs the people it supposedly represents an absolute fortune while being bureaucratic, undemocratic and without accountability....

A million died from starvation in this country because food was exported under military escort, which flag flew in Ireland during that genocide????
