To the people saying it was the tow truck driver's fault for not using flares🧐it takes a whole lotta stupid to think that the driver who was utterly oblivious to the blinding lights that tow trucks use to signal their presence would see street flares laying on the ground 🙄

It seems retarded to block a lane. No flares, no cones, just some flashing lights leading to a ramp.

I used to have to fill potholes at 3 in the morning on Atlanta highway. Shit was terrifying because almost nobody slowed down

The state police should be helping with this instead of sitting and waiting for the aftermath. Flares, and parked patrol cars, 1/4 mile up the road. Where are the public servants when you need them?

You see flashers in the distance the last thing you’re thinking of is that there’s a vehicle dead stop in your lane. People don’t pay attention that’s all there is to it. He should have been over a lot more and waited for back up. Icey conditions at night in what looks like rush hour is a recipe for disaster

One of my former soldiers was a tow truck driver. He got a roadside call and was hoisting the vehicle when a lady sideswiped him doing 60. It rolled him down the side of his rig and flung him into the side wall. It broke his hip, pelvis, arm, 7 ribs, femur , cheek bone, and his ankles. Over 2 years of rehab later he can finally walk and sort of run again. He ended up getting a $750,000 payout, of which 60% went to his lawyer.

From a First Responder (Paramedic/EMS) who has lost count on how many roadside calls they've been on. It is INSANE on how many crazy, entitled, and unsafe drivers there are! Even when you have the combination lights of Police, Fire, and EMS the amount of idiot drivers passing by a scene is mind-boggling. I couldn't imagine depending on only the amber lights of a single town truck to control that flow... stay safe and use your HiVis otherwise workers comp won't cover you

Not any better when we are running fire calls on the interstate. We've had them slide sideways through our scene with us diving over rails to get something between us and them. I even had one clocked by a trooper at 117mph while he was knocking my cones up in the air. Crazy.

Not the tow trucks vault, slow down the video and look at the car, he failed to yield to the car next to him and attempted to speed up like an average low iq person would. The tow truck is very visible, if you can’t see bright lights and yellow hazard lights, get off the road.

There should be a flare out on the road. Period.

I helped my brother-in-law do some towing. On a snowy day we went to a call to tow one person out of a snowbank. People kept sliding off the road into the snow bank due to fast driving. So when we got done with the first person we went to the next. Then the next and so on. One guy we towed him out twice in under 4 hours in the same damn area.

Crazy there are no flares Yeah, you have to be stupid to do it like him.

For a while I was thinking of getting one of these trucks and doing an uber type thing around bars. Get you AND your car home that way. Lol. People stopped drinking tho. Now they just do fentanyl.

Did it many times. A colleague of mine died when he was hit by a mobile home (those half a house things) while trying to change a tire. People need to understand he doesn’t have an inexhaustible number of flares. If he used them at all on the last wreck.

Emergency service vehicles with flashing lights where I live you must slow down to 50kmh when passing. I guess that’s not required wherever the hell this is. Probably in the USA

Tow operators don't get the respect they deserve. When I was an LEO, I did see some operators in a hurry though, blocking roads on blind curves etc without waiting for me to position my car or set flares to protect them...
