I wanted to see if Qoder could turn a real World Development Indicators CSV into something verifiable, not just a pretty summary. I opened a new task, selected the QoderCSVReport workspace, left the model on Auto, set permissions, and gave Qoder the CSV. The file had 1,045 rows, 14 columns, and ten years of data from 2016 to 2025. Qoder validated the file, treated .. as null instead of zero, transformed the wide table into a country-year-series dataset, and measured coverage and missing rates. It then generated summary.json, report.md, dashboard.html, README.md, and a verification script. The verifier independently re-read the CSV and checked the totals, country count, Series count, yearly missing rates, and the highest and lowest values against the report and dashboard. That last step is what made it useful. The output was not just a chat answer. It was a real artifact I could inspect and verify. The dashboard includes KPI cards, yearly missing-rate charts, Series coverage rankings, country coverage, and filters for Country and Series. It is responsive on desktop and mobile and uses no external CDN assets. The generated files are all in English. I used Auto for this run. This is one of the coolest open-source AI agent projects I've seen in a while: 'Understand Anything' It's a plugin for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode etc. that analyzes your codebase and turns it into a knowledge base that you can interact with. It explains the codebase to you, rather than showing you the structure. It seems like it's designed for code but I opened my Obsidian vault of podcast highlights in Claude Code, then ran /understand. The result is a knowledge graph that I can search of highlights from 888 podcast episodes and 144K lines of markdown text.

Is Windsurf better than Cursor? impossible to say, but... it does one thing better: soooo... I spent an hour testing windsurf... and this is what i created... and app called "boop-boop" lol... one thing windsurf does is it searches the internet. If you've been watching my videos you know that i go to perplexity all the time to get code examples and docs. but with windsurf you can just say, "search the replicate top image gen models and add them to the chat we just created" It will search the internet, find the right model then write the code. This is great for replicate and openrouter. You can have one api key in your .env file then just tell windsurf to search for docs for [insert ai model] and it will just add it to your app. Impressed tbh.

I installed a new Visual Studio Code extension to help me write code. But this extension doesn't get in your way. It doesn't try to write code for you. It only gives you hints and recommendations about your code. I like that. Like a second pair of eyes, looking over my shoulder and telling me how I can do things better. The extension is Traycer. You can install it directly from inside Visual Studio Code. It's free forever for anyone working on open-source projects (and if you aren't, you can use it for free until the end of June.) I recorded a super-duper-quick video to show you how this extension works. I know code generation is a huge thing, but I really appreciate tools that help me do what I do better. i watched gemma 4 12b build something genuinely impressive today, and then loop itself to death right in front of me. the full run is in the video, sped up but completely uncut, watch it to the end and you will catch the exact moment it stops building and starts looping right in the middle of the work. the task was clean, build a single file gravity simulator, n-body physics, orbits, collisions, running locally on one 3090 through an agent. and for ten minutes it was a joy to watch. it reached for a symplectic integrator on its own, the correct one, the kind that keeps orbits stable instead of spiralling out. real gravity with softening, proper orbital velocities, momentum conserved on collision. the physics was right. the thing actually worked. then on the very last step, writing a few tests to prove its own code, it fell into a loop. not a crash, a loop. it started repeating itself and would not stop. ten more minutes, thirty four thousand tokens into a single answer, the same fragments over and over, until i killed it myself. so it's not that gemma can't code. it did the hard part beautifully. it cannot finish. it cannot hold a long task together without unravelling, and finishing is the entire job in agentic work. here's the part that stings. i run this exact task, same harness, same card, on the chinese open models, qwen especially, and i never see this. they build it, they test it, they stop. every single time. google has the raw capability, you can see it sitting right there in the code, and then the model loops itself to death on a task a 27b from alibaba finishes clean. open weights, apache 2.0, so much to love on paper. i just need it to know when to stop talking.

i watched gemma 4 12b build something genuinely impressive today, and then loop itself to death right in front of me. the full run is in the video, sped up but completely uncut, watch it to the end and you will catch the exact moment it stops building and starts looping right in the middle of the work. the task was clean, build a single file gravity simulator, n-body physics, orbits, collisions, running locally on one 3090 through an agent. and for ten minutes it was a joy to watch. it reached for a symplectic integrator on its own, the correct one, the kind that keeps orbits stable instead of spiralling out. real gravity with softening, proper orbital velocities, momentum conserved on collision. the physics was right. the thing actually worked. then on the very last step, writing a few tests to prove its own code, it fell into a loop. not a crash, a loop. it started repeating itself and would not stop. ten more minutes, thirty four thousand tokens into a single answer, the same fragments over and over, until i killed it myself. so it's not that gemma can't code. it did the hard part beautifully. it cannot finish. it cannot hold a long task together without unravelling, and finishing is the entire job in agentic work. here's the part that stings. i run this exact task, same harness, same card, on the chinese open models, qwen especially, and i never see this. they build it, they test it, they stop. every single time. google has the raw capability, you can see it sitting right there in the code, and then the model loops itself to death on a task a 27b from alibaba finishes clean. open weights, apache 2.0, so much to love on paper. i just need it to know when to stop talking.

My favorite way of interacting with Claude Code is to have it generate static HTML files as outputs (reports, explorations, code structure, mockups etc.) I wanted to iterate on the file by commenting in browser and having Claude update the output live. So, I built this Claude Skill👇 How it works: - Install Claude Code skill (ask it to clone repo) - Build an HTML page for anything (e.g. research coding agents and generate HTML report) - Ask it to make the page interactive That's it. CC will launch a localhost server and allow you to then leave comments on the page itself and once it updates, will give you a tour of changes. It's like Google Docs kind of comments/iteration but for HTML pages.

This might be the best "AI Engineer" I've tried so far. I'm an old school developer who started 30 years ago. I feel very uncomfortable letting AI take control of my code, but for the sake of science, I spent two hours building an application that took me weeks to build a couple of years ago. I used Pythagora, a brand new tool backed by Y Combinator. They just released to the public. Keep in mind that I use AI every day to write code, but Pythagora is something different: it's a tool that leads, and uses you—the human—as the copilot. I go into more details in the video, but here is the TLDR; 1. Holy molly! We've made a ton of progress on this front! This is way better than Devin when I tested it a few months back. 2. Love the approach of generating a plan with sub-tasks before writing any code. 3. The tools never tries to do too much: it tackles every small task one at a time, and gives you instructions so you test everything. 4. It does exactly what you'd do when it gets stuck: writes a bunch of logs and uses those to correct itself. Pretty neat! 5. It's fast. It runs locally. It's an extension to Visual Studio Code. I'm impressed, but I don't think this tool is for me. I'm not the type of developer who's ready to relinquish control. I felt I had no connection with the code because I didn't write it. It was not my code. I know many people who don't care about this. I know many people who will get tremendous value out of Pythagora. I hope they keep pushing the limits, providing feedback, and helping this get to a point where old folks like me feel more comfortable using it. Don't take my word for it. The best thing you can do is to give it a try and see how you feel using it. Thanks to the team who built this, for all of the explanations and support, and especially, for sitting and listening to my dumb questions for 2 hours while I tested this.
