Ok enough now! Where are our leaders to finally push back on these insults? Many South Africans denounce violence against our fellow Africans. But, these incessant insults towards us by calling South Africans lazy has to be challenged and rebuked. It is this very rhetoric that is fueling anger. It's Youth Month, a time we honour young people who took to the streets to fight for the freedom of this country. Remember Soweto, June 16 in 1976 and Turfloop, June 12 1986. #FeesMustFall as well as #RhodesMustFall ... Who did that?! Our country is not perfect. We have serious issues we ought to deal with and that's our burden to carry. To continue allowing people with loud voices to call us lazy and spit on our faces is disheartening. Again, no sane South African wants to see innocent people being violently attacked. Many just want things to be done right and legally. Yes, including immigration. It's the so-called lazy South Africans who dealt with Covid and made sure the pandemic does not decimate our part of the world. It is the same lazy South Africans who send our soldiers to wars to help our fellow Africans. We lost 14 soldiers in DRC. RIP Maqhawe! Why are our leaders in government and civil society allowing us to be disrespected and called lazy? If we are lazy, how are we able to use our civic duty to vote in an orderly non-violent free and fair manner? Lazy people allow the politicians to refuse to leave office and rule for life. We don't. If we are lazy why is there order in our country. Our systems are not perfect but many are working efficiently, even immigrants from the diaspora always praise how things work in this country. Many have spoken about something as simple as how queing at the bank is orderly done in Mzansi than it is in Nigeria. Who makes that happen if we are lazy? Who builds the infrastructure, that many the likes of this CEO enjoy when they visit this country? Are there no South Africans working in those construction projects? Companies that run the economy of this country... Who works in those companies? The healthcare sector that is legally open to everyone in this country, who is running that? Are all the nurses, doctors and administrators not South African? You can call out violence and intimidation. You can condemn violence. Hell, you can even call us stupid, if you are so inclined, for allowing criminals to exploit our immigration policies... BUT don't you dare keep calling us lazy! I want my followers to understand that you SHOULDN’T insult South Africa as a country based on a few loud voices on social media who express racist or xenophobic views. South Africa has provided numerous opportunities to the world, particularly to Africans. If South Africans were truly xenophobic, Africans would not be living there in such large numbers today. The majority of South Africans are welcoming to all foreigners who are legally in the country and do not commit crimes. These foreigners work with South Africans, live with them, and many are married to South Africans. There is nothing to worry about in South Africa if you are there legally and not committing crimes. South African citizens have the right to express concerns about illegal foreign nationals and those who commit crimes. In Zimbabwe, illegal foreigners are often placed in dilapidated jails, and refugees are housed in camps like Tongogara in Manicaland. Generalisations are dangerous, especially when they taint and insult a silent majority that is not xenophobic. Local communities in South Africa have protected foreign nationals from a small, violent minority on many occasions. The South African government is not xenophobic either. If it were, Zimbabwean women, who make up 70% of pregnant women giving birth at Musina Hospital in Limpopo, would not be allowed there. We should be grateful for the South African hospitality we have received for decades. It is important to recognise that while xenophobia and racism may exist in certain pockets of society, these attitudes do not reflect the majority of South Africans or the country as a whole. Respecting the rights of South African citizens to voice concerns about illegal immigration and crime is important, as these are valid issues. However, it is equally important to avoid generalising these concerns to portray the entire nation as xenophobic or unwelcoming. If South Africans were truly xenophobic, parties like PA and Action SA would be in power today. The four largest political parties in South Africa have never used xenophobia as a campaign platform, which should be telling. Do not judge a nation's character based on a few loud, yet inconsequential voices on social media. They do not represent South Africa accurately. Countries are a product of their history. We shouldn’t draw comparisons with where we come from and insist that our hosts should behave as we do. If South Africans were to follow our practices in Zimbabwe, refugees would be in camps and illegal foreigners would be in jail! In Zimbabwe, refugees are not even allowed to work, if you are found working, you are thrown into jail. South Africa, on the other hand, provides equal legal rights in its courts to foreigners as it does to South Africans. These actions are not those of a xenophobic country. Zimbabwe has refused to issue documents to people of Malawian and Zimbabwean origin, and it has revoked the citizenships of many Zimbabweans whose great-grandparents came from elsewhere. In any society, you are going to have opportunistic politicians and unemployables who think that all their problems are caused by foreigners, we have them everywhere, but they shouldn’t be used to define a whole nation!

This is the new cultural norm that we are introducing in our communities, we are taking charge of our country. We are building a clean and safe environment for our communities. We don't have to wait on the government to instill order, in the absence of government, the people shall govern. We plead with all communities to do the same. It is time for South Africans of all races to come together, work together in unity and build our country. Let's learn to put our differences aside and look beyond race. It’s sad how some South Africans are targeting businesses of Africans from other countries in SA. Some even think people who run legitimate businesses are taking their jobs. Africans going to South Africa 🇿🇦 for business should be careful. Recently President Cyril Ramaphosa pointed out that inflation and hardship will soon hit the highest in the country and that they should cope with him as he’s doing everything possible. Yet some people are attacking other Africans doing legitimate business in the name of protecting their country, while White people who control most of the country’s economy and land live comfortably and are not being called out. The sad reality is that most of those people, especially from Zimbabwe, are of the same ethnicity as them but are divided by colonial borders.

"This democracy and this education have produced a lot of stupid intelligence., the likes of Thabo Mbeki and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi" Mcebo Dlamini exposes the fake intellectuals who protect illegal foreigners while South Africans suffer. "That's what we are subjected to ..; dealing with these self-proclaimed intellectuals, prophets of suicide, who say whatever they read because society tells them there are problems. They come out and say, 'No, no, we are moving with an ideology that doesn't exist.' Because all this argument of 'Africanism' and 'making friends' .; as long as we're bringing this ideology that you're telling us about, but it doesn't speak to me. Then that ideology falls on deaf ears for South Africans. I think we are unemployed South Africans. The things ..; high crime, South Africans complaining about a lot of things ..; you're telling them about Pan-Africanism? That's the dumbest thing. Pan-Africanism is nothing. There must be ideology, because once the ideology is senseless, the people must reach you. You know what? We must be careful because the problem with this democracy that we have ..; and the education it has produced ..; is a lot of stupid intelligence. That's the problem we have. This education that we're speaking about ..; of both faculties ..; has produced a lot of stupid intellectuals, frauds masquerading as intellectuals. Because they want to think of big things. They see things differently from the reality that we all see. And they want to project and profile themselves as if they are the real thing. Prophets of suicide, as if those who are uneducated and unemployed can't think for themselves. These people are raising issues that affect them. And now they're not speaking about now ..; they're speaking about the future. To see what type of South Africa this will be in ten years. When you look at it, we have beings without anything ..; all for my love for my business, without anything. Now you have lives that will come and see them. These are your future employers. Why should they be illegal? Why should they be future employers of South Africans ..; not South Africans employing them? That's an insult to our people."

These protesters were given political cover by Jacob Zuma’s MK Party and March and March, which are effectively pursuing the same agenda. The MK Party explicitly declared that even Africans who are legally documented must leave South Africa. These protesters have simply acted on that message. They listened to their political leaders and went out to intimidate, harass and target Africans who are lawfully in the country. This is exactly what is turning South Africa into a laughingstock in the eyes of the world. It hands ammunition to its critics, including countries such as Israel and political figures like Donald Trump, who point to scenes like these and argue that South Africa is descending into lawlessness. If people claim they are protesting against illegal immigration but then use that protest to loot businesses, harass and intimidate Africans who are legally in South Africa, as has been reported in this news reports, then this has nothing to do with illegal immigration. It is xenophobia. It is Afrophobia. That is precisely what those terms mean. It is deeply disturbing to watch South Africa take this dark turn, where black Africans are persecuted simply because they are African, even when they have the legal right to live and work in the country. This is not law enforcement. It is prejudice dressed up as activism. We warned from the very beginning that this movement was being driven by hatred of black Africans, not by a genuine concern for the rule of law. We were insulted, mocked and dismissed. Today, those who doubted us need only look at what is happening. The evidence is now in plain sight.

Next time you come back, know that we South Africans don't joke." Comments like these are disappointing, especially when they appear to promote division rather than unity. Africa's strength has always been in solidarity, mutual respect, and cooperation among its people. Nigerians and South Africans have deep historical ties, and millions of law-abiding citizens from both countries contribute positively to each other's economies and communities. Generalizing an entire nationality or celebrating the departure of people based on where they come from only fuels resentment and misunderstanding. At a time when Africans should be building stronger bridges across the continent, statements that appear hostile to fellow Africans raise serious concerns about the future of Pan-African unity.
