Just because you don’t want to compete in a global economy doesn’t mean Canada gets to abstain

Profilbild von Solotshi

@KyleJollymore89 You're the one who is trying to stop people from competing in a global economy by restricting their ability to leave, though. You can't compete with the US so you have to try to lock talented people in.

@rileysolotshi @KyleJollymore89 You’re the one that wants to spend taxpayer’s money on people who do not contribute to the Canadian economy

This is a bad idea. The best and brightest leave - just like they leave India, China, Iran - regardless of how difficult you make it. The best and brightest are motivated by reward, not punishment.

Lock in young talent to free up that 10 billion for foreign aid, proxy wars and gender studies in Uganda. Ill be gone. But you freaks deserve whats coming. Enjoy it.

The born and raised Canadian is nothing more than a tax generation vehicle so these freaks can fritter away the money on their idiotic political projects. No wonder they prefer ready made tax cattle brought in from abroad ready for milking.

Patrick Pichette is lecturing Canadians like me who moved to the US for better opportunities. He complains tax dollars are wasted subsidizing higher education and he's not even living in Canada anymore. But what real incentives has Canada offered us to stay? High taxes, heavy regulation, and smaller markets aren't exactly compelling. The irony is thick too 😂. This is the same guy who studied at Oxford, became Google's CFO, made a fortune in Silicon Valley, moved to London, and benefited from a stable Canadian economy. Now this boomer wants to shut the door on the next generation doing exactly what he did. And they wonder why younger people give boomers so much flack. Success stories like him pull up the ladder once they're at the top.

unfathomable to me that people can say shit like this in public forums and not be severely embarrassed and constantly questioning what the hell is wrong with them. this is no longer a country that has any resemblance to the type of free society I want to live in.

I will repeat that it is my assertion that if the US really wanted to *crush* us, they would create a skilled worker visa for engineers and doctors like the TN, but with a clear pathway to a green card.

Profilbild von AJ
AJvor 6 Monaten

High skilled talent leaving is a symptom of a problem, not the problem itself. You could stop every Waterloo grad from crossing the border but it won’t magically create a favorable tax system and VCs that don’t expect returns in 24 months. This is just tall poppy politics

I mean, the TN-1 isn't really Canada's to cancel - and we'd have trouble negotiating with the US to cancel their side because it benefits them a lot more than it does Canada.

The Boomers are not content to simply ruin Canada for their offspring. They now want to impose financially devastating exit tolls on Canadian youth seeking to flee the Boomer ruination. This is intergenerational sadism. @TristinHopper @jengerson @mattgurney @cselley

Holeee sheeiitt… this demented feeble Soviet aristocrat is DETERMINED to cause a headlong sprint for the doors — before they become gates. Why are the terminally-leftist acorn-brains unwilling to reason based on human incentives?! Restore people’s hope & pay, and they will stay!

Where are we getting this $500k figure from? And rather than saying people can't have agency to move elsewhere, maybe Canadian enterprise needs to focus on growth themselves. Conservative corporate (not just govt.) culture gives people little choice but to leave.

This is typical zero sum thinking, that Canadians can’t seem to get past. Should immigrants to Canada have to pay their former countries too? Hell, we even have people out here saying this between provinces. Do you think a world where that is the norm is a richer place?

There is no wisdom in his statement. Canadian elites always find cheap way to fix problems. They fail to ask why are people moving with TN visa. How productive is Canada? Unfortunately they are clapping for that opinion. Does Canada have any blueprint to secure it future?
