what happened to the Highway Code that says that you must have stopped ? Stepping out into the road Drivers must stop and allow pedestrians to cross, even if they are not at a designated crossing

Have you ever seen a driver do that?

Yes she is in the wrong but this also highlights the danger of the layout, once crossing a pedestrian may not think they need to look left on the "wrong" side of the road as naturally you would expect traffic travelling in that direction to be on the "left"

Totally agree but I think it just requires everyone to look out for everyone else... The wide angle on the @insta360 suggests I was going very fast, but actually only about 11 mph, and even if she had stepped blindly in front of me I would not have hit her. Care must be taken on this stretch. It is certainly safer for pedestrians now that we have cancelled a full lane of cars. Back in the day it was a disgusting and atrocious mess and I will always be grateful to @SteveCowan1 for bravely making this change

You had a good view and should have stopped before even getting to them, doesn't matter your speed or if they were at fault. HC dictates as they are most vulnerable you should give way.

Dyed-in-the-wool cyclist here. Give way to pedestrians without drama, and without expectation that they will be as aware of their surroundings as people on wheels are.

Your problem is that when you perceive a potential hazard, you speed up in the hope that you'll get your big break in being 'the one wronged'. Is your appetite for this so much that it's worth potentially putting yourself in hospital for?

Just slow the hell down?? I really hate that you're supposed to represent safe cycling when you post stuff like this. Makes a farce of whenever actually safe cyclists complain about cars cutting too close putting peoples safety over 10 seconds of their time. You're a joke.
