Instead, they killed him in front of the mosque. This is what I saw with my own eyes. After that, because I was a nurse, they brought the injured to the mosque for treatment, even though they claimed they were taking them to the hospital. One of the family members was a doctor. I saw five of their injuries with my own eyes, all of them children. Then they made successive promises that they would release us that same day. The guards who escorted us were respectful. This is San Francisco in 1985. I miss my grandparents. I miss all of my family who are no longer here. When my grandparents came to visit, we would go to SFO to pick them up, and no one was ever happier to see me than they were. This was back when you could walk right up to the gate. I was always excited to see if this would be the year I was finally taller than my grandma. Having them in town was the best. The meals my grandma cooked for us were amazing, and their stories were always just as great. We would take them to San Francisco and do all the touristy stuff like North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf, but none of that really mattered. What mattered was that we were all together. They’ve been gone for years now, but I think of them often. I wonder what it would have been like to talk to them as an adult, to connect in a different way than I could as a kid. I guess life isn't really designed that way for everyone, to grow up and have those deeper conversations, to understand who they were beyond being your grandparents. But I have gotten to know them in new ways, through old photos, home movies, and the stories other family members have shared with me. It amazes me to think of the full lives they both lived long before I was ever born. If you still have your grandparents, give them a call. Say hello. Learn as much as you can from them while you still can.

There have always been moments in history when the unthinkable or the unspeakable have occurred. Moments recorded in the pages of history, where we must use our imagination to conjure up images of the pain and suffering those that lived through those moments endured. Never in a million years do we ever imagine from the lofty height of our comfortable existence, WE will become the subject of one of those stories that future generations will look upon in the same way today we look upon 1930’s Germany. I have taken the liberty of adapting the now famous words of Pastor Martin Niemöller First they came for the black people And I did not speak out Because I was not black. Then they came for the Mexicans And I did not speak out Because I was not a Mexican. Then they came for the Muslims And I did not speak out Because I was not a Muslim Then they aided and abetted Israel to murder Palestinian women and children And I did not speak out Because I was not a Palestinian Then they came for the LGBTQ + community And I did not speak out Because I was not a member of that community. Then they came for the poor, the vulnerable and the disabled And I did not speak out Because I was none of these. Donovan Johnson was bright light in this world. As soon as he flashed his trademark smile, he left you no choice but to do the same. He was full of joy, jokes, love and loyalty. He was grateful for the opportunities in his life and proud when he made the most of them. He was a role model to my boys and he loved them whole heartedly. He was part of our family. He battled Leukemia with a brave and gracious heart and fought so hard to be here for his family, especially his son. I loved Donovan and I have peace knowing he knew that. I’m grateful for my purpose in this profession, to impact young people and make sure they know how deeply they are loved and believed in. Rest in peace, DonJohn. I will love you forever.

I remember when I was young, around 10-11 years old. My parents were both asleep as was my brother. I heard a knock on the back door which was weird because who uses the back door at a stranger’s house? The kitchen window was close by so I take a look. It looked like a teenager but hard to tell because they had a hoodie with the hood up. I didn’t open the door but I did crack the window and asked them what they wanted. They replied they were lost and wanted to come in to warm up and use the phone. Even when it’s daylight I know never to let anybody in period that I didn’t know, but a stranger after midnight was weird enough. I said no because I didn’t know them. Then they said that hey knew my dad and that’s why he came by. I said that’s fine and all but I’m not letting you use our phone. This was before cellphones were widely used, we had a landline like most people. The person wouldn’t take no for an answer and I could sense he was getting angry. I went and woke up my dad, I told him there was somebody at the back door and that he said they knew him. He walked to the door and looked out and said he didn’t know him. But he did talk through the door and told him that he was calling the police and that he should just leave. The person just stood there until the police finally came and even they asked him what he was doing knocking on the door at that hour. He told them he was lost and thought this was a house of a family friend. The police told him my dad didn’t know him and made him leave. So was this a case of wrong house or was he up to something. It makes me still wonder to this day but I’m still glad I never opened the door.

How I wished the days would pass and then I forget that these days is my life... I wonder when this war will end. We don't have the energy to bear anymore.. There is no point in things coming late, like a kiss of apology on the forehead of a dead person.. I hope the war ends before it is too late because no one will be left alive here... My friends and loved ones.. This Mo again with a new update.. Yesterday there was another bombing in the apartment where I go to get an internet signal.. but I was not there.. I was at home.. I am no longer online much because the area I go to in order to get an Internet signal has become very dangerous... My daughter, Julia, is slowly recovering. She sends her greetings to you and says thank you for your gift. She feels happy to have fresh fish and vegetables.. My friends and dear ones.. Two weeks ago, I bought food for the cats and I felt that I would not find food for them because the supplies here had run out. Fortunately for me, I found what I wanted on the black market, but at ridiculous prices. To make the food last as long as possible, I mix it with bread... One of the merchants called me and told me that he had taken some of his goods out of his store, which was destroyed, and that he intended to sell them. I told him to give me some time so I can bring him the money.. I intend to bring everything he has for the cats I have... because I'm sure I won't find food for them soon... If I buy them this amount, I will not have to worry about their food until the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.. For everyone who doesn't know me.. Im Mo from Gaza.. Interested in rescuing cats I did a lot of rescue missions before the war... and I had a modest shelter with more than 60 cats... But unfortunately, the crazy war came and destroyed the shelter. Some of them died, some of them escaped, and I have 25 cats left. I do my best to preserve them and give them all my time and attention.. If you are interested in supporting me to get cat food until the end of the year I would be very grateful to you.. I hope everyone will participate and contribute by supporting me and retweeting, which helps spread.. You see a young man at your door, he tells you that they don’t have a place to stay and was kicked out of their home. It’s hard because you feel bad for them because their situation seems dire, and they look so young with no where to go. But on the other hand, how many times have home invasions or worst starts out with a sob story like this. If this happened to you would you just call the cops, would you let them in for the night?
