Being in debt isn’t her problem. Her problem is that she’s an addict. She’s addicted to shit, to materialism. Do without, damn. Most of the shit you buy doesn’t do anything but take up space.

How do you get credit/loans after filing bankruptcy?

I couldn’t imagine financing furniture. I’d sit on a plastic lawn chair until I saved enough for an ottoman, and then sit on that until I could afford a love seat… Do people pay 5% for 2 years on an end table?

The cars I can understand, you gotta drive to work. But 32k in credit cards is insane

First off I’ve been in this boat so I can understand how bankruptcy is the only way. These people don’t have a money problem, they have a spending problem and I think they fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. Stop spending.

Bet you she has phones, subscriptions vacations purses shoes dining out ordering in and out, kids have 8 pairs of shoes, 75” TV and so on. All stuff that she could cut back on which would allow her to get out of debt. People act and spend like they are rich. Live within means !

Upstart and Upgrade loans…oof. You might as well just burn your money for the interest on those loans. I’m not familiar with Avant, but I used to service those accounts for a national debt buyer for Upstart and Upgrade. Awful, awful financial products.

I would be in a panic at that debt. I drive a 2004 SUV that I bought 10 years ago for 6k, replaced my Iphone 6 with a used XS, and only eat out once a month when I take my mom to lunch. My only big purchase this year was a new bed. She needs to quit buying shit she doesn't need.

used to be you could only file for bankruptcy once every 7 yrs, and getting a cc was easy after you file because lenders knew you couldnt file again for 7yrs so you could get credit at high interest without issue an old guy I used to work with used to brag he would file bankruptcy every 7yrs regardless if he was hurting for money or not then spend 7 years acquiring huge cc debt, he would take out his max credit in cash advances so he could pay cash for shit that wouldnt get taken in bankruptcy, he said he had done this 4 times

As someone who went through bankruptcy back in 2010, our collective debt was around $30k at that time seemed impossible to repay. At that point in time I was laid off and wasn’t even getting by on unemployment. After going through that process I vowed to never to it again.

Sell your cars. Get two bucket of bolts under 5K. You will probably get your debt to 82k. Sell everything not essential. Start with basic rent price... Say 2K month? Let's say you're at the high end at 21% interest. Starting with the smallest loan: 2k a month you should pay off all your debts in 6 Years. Strategic balance transfers are friend. Don't close old accounts. Once you've paid 82k, you can negotiate with your credit card, because you should have around 60k in interest left. (Yeah) Every 6 months ask for a credit limit increase. Watch your credit score soar to the moon🚀 Finally upgrade your car, and smile when they give you that 50k car at 5% interest.

Living beyond your means Say You! I’m 69, still work. On my feet all day. I have a used car. Saved for it. Paid cash. I saved two years to buy my couch. I wait. Yes, I struggle. When my time on earth is over, my children won’t inherit my debt. Shame on you

No, she learned something. She learned she can absolutely frivolous, profligate, and impulsive with her spending, and once she spends enough, takes out loans to cover some of the debt and then nuke it back up, she can use the law to bail her out and then do it all over again. Ridiculous. Who foots the bill for debt erased through bankruptcy?

They are either financially illiterate or willfully using bankruptcy to finance their life style.
