Original post:

@scottbelsky oh man what a throwback, Alice's artworks are what influenced me to chalk up my former boss's quotes back in 2015. also chalkboard art is way harder than you'd think 🫠

@scottbelsky Epic lore drop 👨🏫

@scottbelsky One of the things I learned at Xbox was sometimes you have to go rogue to get stuff done. Esp in a place like that where there are so many decision makers you gotta let it fly from the logo and trust the work

@scottbelsky That last phrase is a bar 🏀💨

bullied me into not holding my mic for this one btw

@scottbelsky without a doubt, 100% of my best work has been a result of going rogue

@scottbelsky Go Rogue 2026™️

@scottbelsky The rogue 10% is usually the part you're most proud of at the end too

@scottbelsky I know I cooked when everyone is like

@scottbelsky unleash the unbridled artistry

@scottbelsky i just keep the rogue part a secret till it’s ready - otherwise it freaks people out with the “scope”

@Jonnotie @scottbelsky He’s back with another banger!

@scottbelsky Love this, I’m going to go one step further and yell LEEEEROYYYYYY JENKIIINNSSSSSS before I go rogue

@scottbelsky Awesome take. In my personal experience, the best ideas are usually born within the 10-20% rogue state.

@scottbelsky if you're not pushing the envelope, are you even designing? let's see that rogue side shine!

@scottbelsky Hell yeahhhhh

@scottbelsky Well.... gotten me in trouble before. But fun trouble.

@scottbelsky Man, really loving these takes. I feel like I learn a ton in just a couple of minutes. Please keep them coming 🙏🏼

@scottbelsky a metaphor for life

@scottbelsky Some of the best teams I’ve worked with appreciated this side.

@scottbelsky 100% agree! It's especially beneficial when you've just joined a team and can identify opportunity (read: rogue) areas that the people already there might have overlooked.

@scottbelsky You will get fired very fast too.

@scottbelsky Very true gotta always make version that’s a bit further away from the brief

@scottbelsky for sure, but rogue with purpose right? gotta make that chaos work for you!

@scottbelsky Okay but then why do my lead designers come at me with pitchforks whenever I detach a component 😭

@scottbelsky I love that you captured these moments. But does detach instance count as going rogue too?

My first job was doing UI and concept design for a sci fi TV series. About three months in it was looking like a I might get fired. I was trying really hard to make everyone happy. Producers told me they loved my work, but weren't happy behind my back. So I decided 'fuck it, I'll just do what I like'. Got a call into Exec Producers office. Fired? Nope. He wanted to tell me how awesome he thought the latest designs were.

@scottbelsky I make changes and don’t even tell people. It’s better 99% of the time.

@scottbelsky Research AI agent

@scottbelsky tl;dr: high agency. care deeply. make cool shit

@scottbelsky Needed to hear this

Can one be "too" rogue? Asking for a friend lol

@scottbelsky of course; you have to be directionally effective inline with where the company/product is trying to go otherwise you're just creating chaos

@scottbelsky ±10% feels right

@scottbelsky How can you not? I always go rogue.

@scottbelsky clients give you 10x more latitude after one win. rogue is a privilege you unlock, not a starting position
