Oh, you mean you didn't notice the over 200 cameras scanning faces 24/7? Well, they're here, and many are located in the city's French Quarter. For years, over 15 million people who visit this neighborhood annually have been quietly documented while local police were automatically notified if AI software found a match to a person of interest. The problem? AI isn't always accurate, and it has more errors among people with darker skin tones, women, children, and the elderly. Because of these limitations, privacy experts agree that AI-generated facial recognition matches will lead to wrongful arrests.
