The first NSF wave took control of positions where Saudi forces had been active, including Nashton Port and Al-Ghaydah Airport. However today, the NSF started securing key government buildings. For the moment, the border posts with Oman in Sarfait and Shahan continue to fly the southern flag, and the borders remain open. It would not be surprising, however, if they were closed given the ongoing security turmoil. In short, the situation in Al-Mahra remains unresolved. It is still unclear which side will emerge as the dominant security and military force: the Saudi-backed National Shield Forces or the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council forces.
