This was awesome. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Caine paid tribute to yet another unsung aspect of the joint force, focusing this time on those in artillery. “Now, as I often do, I want to share a little bit about our incredible joint force. Today, I’m going to talk about our incredible artillery force comprised of American soldiers and Marines who have been sinking ships, destroying depots, and launching Army tactical missiles, missile systems, or ATACMS precision strike missiles or PRISMS, and high mobility rocket systems, or HIMARS from outside Iran. Our army and marine artillery are hitting sites that Iran relies on to project power beyond their borders and protect our deployed. In just the first 13 days of this operation, our artillery forces have made history. They fired the first precision strike missiles ever used in combat, reaching deep into enemy territory. They’ve used Army ATACMS to sink multiple ships, including a submarine, and they’ve done all of this with the precision and determination that comes from relentless training and trust in each other and in their weapon systems.” “Yesterday, I had the incredible honor and privilege of speaking with some of our young soldiers from the Third Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the unit and the crew that fired the first precision strike missiles. The soldiers I met came from all over this great country: New York, Texas, Delaware, California. One had been in the Army only six months and had been in the unit for two months and was already deployed. He was the youngest at 20, but you would not know it from the way that they talked about their mission. The others were 22 and 28 years old. They spoke with the sense of calm, pride, purpose and clarity that tells you clearly they understand the weight of what they’re doing and the people who depend on them. I asked him to walk me through a fire mission. I asked not just what they do, but what they feel, especially those first crew members on this particular mission. These soldiers basically live in these vehicles behind us, the cab very tight. Two folks sit next to each other with the crew commander behind them. It’s jammed inside there with their personal weapons and kit, and they sit and wait for a fire mission. And when that fire mission comes, they close the armored doors and begin to program the systems. They then throw three simple toggle switches and 10 to 15 feet behind them, a rocket motor ignites and the round is headed downrange to do the nation’s work.” “I asked these youngsters, these young, awesome Americans, what does that feel like? And one of them just looked at me and said, ‘it’s awesome.’ No drama, no hesitation. In the middle of the day, in the middle of the night, in the sun, the rain and the snow. Flawless execution. Their Marine counterparts are out there doing the same thing every night. Same work, same pressure, same expectations, same results. And we hand tremendous and enormous responsibility to these young Americans, and they carry it with a level of maturity, grit, professionalism, and tenacity that makes me incredibly proud to be a part of their joint force. Their parents and families, what could and should be incredibly proud and their leaders. And I trust them to do the deeds that they must do in difficult circumstances every single time.” “I also want to touch today a moment — I want to touch for a moment today on their leadership. These young Americans are led by extraordinary young leaders out at the tactical edge. Yesterday, the battery commander and her NCO were there with this crew on the same video screen. The two of them hardly said a word. They didn’t have to in their eyes — and in particular, the commander’s eyes — you could see the quiet trust and confidence she had in these soldiers and the rest of their battery. It came through loud and clear, and we appreciate their leadership. When I asked these soldiers yesterday, what is it that you need from the Secretary and I? They looked at each other, paused for a moment and look back at me and said, ‘more rounds, sir.’ It was awesome. So, thank you to those soldiers and Marines out on the firing line supporting our mission. And thank you to their families. Our joint force will continue today to deliver dynamic fires against the enemy from the land, sea, and air. We remain deeply grateful for their service. And, for the third time today, I’ll mention that today will be our busiest day. OPERATION HADIN KAI: TROOPS FOIL TERRORIST ABDUCTION ATTEMPT, RESCUE 31 CIVILIANS IN BORNO In a display of vigilance and bravery, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has yet again thwarted a terrorist abduction attempt and rescued 31 civilians during a successful military operation conducted along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. At about 3:45 p.m on 31 July 2026, troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion, Dutsen Kura, detected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists through real-time surveillance systems as they intercepted four civilian vehicles and abducted their occupants. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Battalion deployed a Quick Response Force in pursuit of the terrorists as they fled towards the Mangari–Dora general area. The troops made contact with the insurgents and engaged them with effective fire, compelling the terrorists to abandon the abducted civilians and the four civilian vehicles before fleeing into the surrounding bush in disarray. During the operation, troops also recovered motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. All 31 abducted civilians were rescued unharmed, while the four civilian vehicles were recovered intact. Following the successful rescue, troops dominated the general area and conducted further exploitation to deny the terrorists any opportunity to regroup. No further contact was made during the operation. The rescued civilians and recovered vehicles were subsequently escorted to Buratai, where the victims regained possession of their vehicles and continued their journey safely. The successful operation once again demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in protecting civilians and frustrating terrorist activities. While addressing the troops, COAS & CDF lauded their high morale, professional competence and operational preparedness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, emphasizing the need to maintain optimum readiness to meet the requirements of future Battle field and security challenges. COAS & CDF highlighted that Pakistan Armed Forces are undergoing major transformation in multiple domains. Character of war has evolved massively, with technological advancements driving the evolution, dictating huge mental transformation at all tiers. In future, technological manoeuvres will replace physical manoeuvres and will fundamentally alter the way offensive and defensive operations are undertaken. Here is what REALLY Happened; On June 20th, almost a full month before, Neil Armstrong and company took off from Pine Gap Joint Operations base in Australia, touching down on June 24th. This was done so in the event the mission was a complete disaster, the US would avoid having it happen on National Television. There was real pictures and film taken from this mission to be used when they got back, to play it as "live footage" for the world. The plan was for the astronauts to then be sent back into Earth's Orbit before they were due back so they could do the "splash down" return for the whole World to see. HOWEVER, when the Astronauts Secretly returned to Earth on June 30th, it was determined that the video and photographic footage was ruined due to not being properly protected while traveling back through the Van Allen radiation belts. The only thing they had left was the original radio communications with Mission Control. In order to avoid international embarrassment and prove to the world the US still went to the Moon, they recreated the footage and used the actual radio communications that NASA had recorded. It was then that all three Astronauts were sent back into space on July 16th to be sent back into Orbit to await the Splash down for the cameras. It wasn't until they came back this second time that they were informed that they were not allowed to discuss any of the real details about what they encountered on their trip to the Moon. Forced to sign NDA's minutes before their press conference, where violating it was punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or $1,000,000.00 in fines. All other missions to the Moon, countermeasures were in place to protect against damaged footage from the Van Allen radiation belts. It was then that all three Astronauts were sent back into space on July 16th to be sent back into Orbit to await the Splash down for the cameras. It wasn't until they came back this second time that they were informed that they were not allowed to discuss any of the real details about what they encountered on their trip to the Moon. Forced to sign NDA's minutes before their press conference, where violating it was punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or $1,000,000.00 in fines. All other missions to the Moon, countermeasures were in place to protect against damaged footage from the Van Allen radiation belts. They cut off the fact that in this video, you see a protestor dumping water onto the small fire in the empty lot, and others with water bottles coming to help, after some young hooligans set fire to bushes in an empty lot with a firework. It was reported on Frontline Wildfire, but by the time LAFD got on scene the protestors had already put out the flames, and so it wasn’t listed as an LAFD incident. The LAFD puts out status alerts on *ALL* fires they respond to. And Frontline Wildfire is a joint public citizen and government data source tracking *ALL* active and recent brush/wild/forest fires in California. You can literally check for yourself if “the city is on fire” from multiple data sources - and guess what?! It’s not. During these protests vandals have: -Set one car on fire -Set off fire works -Set one piece of debris on fire on a highway -Set a bush on fire accidentally with fireworks in an empty lot (which was put out by protestors) -hit cement pillars with hammers (wtf?) And the idiots that did those things, should absolutely fucking be arrested by the LAPD, and many of them have been. The vast majority of protestors, and all protestors who actually care about the cause, are peaceful - so peaceful, that the LAPD (who loves to break out their riot gear and get overtime pay) has said the protestors are peaceful. And it doesn’t let clickbait farms who pay their rent on your outrage, earn from virality. So they clip together some current footage, with old footage, or they get one bad looking angle, and play it again and again, They shout at you to be afraid, and they hope you’re too dumb to check the facts yourself. Don’t let them profit from your fear. Don’t let them strip away other people’s rights, based on fear. Because you never know when the tide shifts and they’ll come for your rights. Climbing Annapurna: A Journey of Leadership Reflecting back, this avalanche was the exact reason for my decision NOT to take the normal route up Annapurna. Annapurna was the first mountain of the project Possible, and it wasn’t only this avalanche that presented hurdles. The long summit push in waist-deep snow, the rescues, and my team being in charge of fixing the lines all played a role. I realize how pivotal that moment was. As a leader, whether on the mountain or in life, I know every choice carries immense weight. One wrong decision could be catastrophic. During my career within the Gurkhas and UKSF/SBS, especially on operations, I learned that 100% commitment is essential, and I carry that mantra as a major principle in my life. After this avalanche, the next morning, I flew my drone to scout the mountain, using skills I developed in the special forces. With no filming crew or high-altitude cameras, it was just me and my determination. Choosing the Dutch Rib route, which had never been completed before, faced skepticism. Many said it was impossible, but I was driven by a greater purpose. We managed to push through, fixed the lines not only for our team but for the rest of the season's climbers, and reached the summit, proving that with dedication and hard work, the impossible can become reality. For me, leadership is about integrity and commitment. Every decision I make is for the team and the mission. After leading over 200 successful expeditions during and after my military career, I cannot emphasize the importance of always giving 100%. The lessons learned along the way are crucial for making it safe. As you all know, I’m a big fan of both summit and safety; they go hand in hand with my expeditions. My 52 successful ascents of 8000m peaks, while guiding and leading the team, speak volumes about the power of collaboration and shared goals. ASTONISHING: British troops crossed a swamp to free captured comrades In 2000, during Sierra Leone’s civil war in West Africa, five British soldiers and their Sierra Leonean liaison were still being held by an armed group after a routine Royal Irish Regiment patrol had been surrounded and captured. The prisoners were deep in the jungle at Gberi Bana, roughly 50 miles east of Freetown. Their captors, the West Side Boys, had beaten them, staged mock executions and made increasingly erratic demands. Negotiators secured the release of six other British soldiers. Then one of the remaining prisoners secretly passed out a rough plan of the camp. British reconnaissance teams slipped into the jungle by boat. For days they watched the two enemy bases, living silently among the insects and using sound detectors to build a picture of the danger. Time was running out. Commanders feared the remaining captives could be killed without warning. At dawn on 10 September, Operation Barras began. There was no quiet route into Gberi Bana. Special Forces had to arrive by helicopter, fast-rope into the heart of the camp and reach the prisoners before their captors could react. Chinooks, Lynx helicopters and two armed Mi-24 aircraft attacked heavy weapons and watched the banks of Rokel Creek. Hidden reconnaissance troops opened fire from the jungle as the rescue force raced through the village. Across the water, about 130 soldiers from 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment attacked the second base at Magbeni. Their job was vital: stop its fighters crossing the creek and overwhelming the rescue. The Paras jumped from their helicopters into waist-deep swamp. Almost immediately, a mortar round wounded their company commander and other key men. The assault did not stop. Leadership passed down, and the soldiers continued through the positions they had rehearsed on a replica of the village. They secured ammunition, destroyed heavy weapons and blocked any counter-attack. At Gberi Bana, every remaining military hostage was reached alive. British troops also freed around 20 Sierra Leonean civilians. The Paras recovered the patrol’s captured Land Rovers and released more prisoners at Magbeni. One British soldier was killed and 12 were wounded. The loss must sit beside the success. Yet the operation broke the West Side Boys as an organised force. Hundreds surrendered soon afterwards, while British troops remained to train Sierra Leone’s army and support the United Nations mission. The Dallas Police Department’s new Drone as First Responder program officially launched today with eight remotely piloted drones based at Dallas Fire-Rescue stations across the City of Dallas. These drones are operated out of the Fusion/Real Time Crime Center and are designed to respond to calls for service in a two-mile radius from their base station. The base locations were selected based on heat maps of calls for service for both police and fire, placing them where they can potentially respond to the greatest number of calls. The pilots will be able to get to the scene quicker than in a squad car and begin to provide real-time intelligence and feedback to officers, as well as reduce the level of response or clear a call entirely if the incident has resolved. If a pilot sees a call in a drone’s response area where aerial intelligence can enhance officer safety, they can deploy a drone to provide critical updates to officers at the scene. Each drone is equipped with a thermal camera to help during nighttime operations, as well as a loudspeaker to make announcements to individuals on the ground. “I challenged our team to find innovative ways to continue improving our response times, and this new drone unit will not only keep officers free to respond to more calls, but provide real time updates as they are responding to calls,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. “Even during our training, our pilots were able to clear three holding calls in an hour with one drone. That alone proved their value to us, and I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits in both officer safety and response times.” Our public safety partners at Dallas Fire-Rescue will also be utilizing the Drone as First Responder program, with training for pilots underway. Today at the funeral of the late great Neville Garrick who was Bob Marley’s friend, and more importantly his design and graphic artist. Almost every Bob Marley album, and his famous concerts were designed by Neville Garrick. He is the man who designed all those great Bob Marley albums we have in our homes, and he also designed Bunny Wailer’s Black Heart-man record, and those iconic Burning Spear albums. The man you see dancing in the video and lighting a chalice is Hartnel Henry, popularly known in reggae circles as Sky High. He was Ziggy Marley’s road manager when I met him in 1993, he literally brought up and helped the careers of all the famous Marley boys after their dad died in 1981. My childhood friend and Zimbabwean soccer legend, George Nechironga who was joint soccer star of the year with Peter Ndlovu met Sky High at Namibia’s independence where Ziggy was performing, and the Zim national football team was also playing. Sky High eventually took a pilgrimage visit to Zimbabwe with his wife in 1993 as most famous Rastafarians did during those days. He asked me what I wanted to do with my life after finishing journalism school, I told him that my dream was to do my post-grad journalism studies abroad in England. Sky High and his wife Stefanie made sure that my dream came true, that is why I know the power of humanity in transforming lives, that is why I do what I do today. Through his good heart I came out of the ghetto to become the person I am today. All these big scholarships came later, but it was a Rastaman from Jamaica who paid for my gateway to go to England and study, it was him who opened the gate for I’n’I to fly out of the limitations around me! It was an inspirational encounter as a 21 year old Zimbabwean being mentored by a Jamaican millionaire and his wife, they didn’t have to, but they are good people. Through the power of the most high, Jah Rastafari, I am forever indebted to him and his wife. And when I see them grieve like they are doing today, I grieve with them too, they are genuine bredrens who are faithful to their beliefs. Their pain is my pain too, you should never forget how you became who you are today in your greatness or fame whichever you have! 30 years later, we are still in communication with each other, when I was in prison for exposing State corruption, he sent solidarity messages! If we as Zimbabweans could love and respect each other as these men and women do to those they met as they tour around the world, we could go far!
