Imagine you wake up in the morning to find a strange woman on your couch. This couple got that surprise and are trying to get her to leave. They give her a chance to avoid jail, but she just doesn’t seem to comprehend it. They finally have to call the cops and have her removed. So how did she get in? Maybe they don’t lock their doors? Would you have given her a chance to leave or just called the authorities? I would have made the call—I don’t trust people.

Every day each kid would get an hour with mom, doing whatever that kid wanted to do. No sense of duty, she was playing with her kid that she just loved. Now thirty years later, I call her up and say "Mom, I need some time. What are you doing for dinner?" The Palomino in Westwood. We'd finish our dinner and the valet would be there. And my mom would say "be mean to me." And I didn't have to ask her what are you doing, I knew exactly what she was doing. And I'd get to the car and say "get in the fucking car." I think Instacart should give you the option of what shopper you want. I also think that people should rate them and if you get too many requests wrong maybe you should Idunno. Not be picked to shop for groceries. Like get pushed to the bottom of the queue.

Maybe I’m weird but I don’t like it when anybody just reaches out and eats off of my plate, I find it rude and I am kind of grossed out when somebody touches my food like that. It makes me not even want to eat it anymore. Is that weird for you too? I have no problem sharing my food, that I don’t mind but the idea of somebody just reaching over and eating off of my plate makes me just want to give it to them and get something else for myself. Growing up without much to eat, when we got food we guarded it because we didn’t know when we would get a chance to eat like that again.

Fantasy, desire, and behavior can overlap, but they are not the same thing. The better question is not always “Should I do this?” Sometimes the better question is “What does this fantasy give me?” Maybe it is power, surrender, novelty, attention, freedom, or just a weird little movie your brain wanted to play.
