Is it possible to invoke skills from outside Figma? e.g. from a GitHub repo, local .agents folder, etc.

Can you work on skill auto-invocation? Ideally I would like the agent to infer what skill to use based on prompt, rather than having to refer it explicitly in chat

Good to see skills land here, and "without leaving Figma" is the part worth thinking about. Design knowledge doesn't stay in one tool. The same brand rules and review steps need to reach whatever writes the code. Right now there are 54 distinct project-level skill directories across 75 coding agents, all holding the same file format under different namespaces, and each new home is another place that knowledge can't leave. Same folder, addressable from anywhere, is the version that compounds.

the community part is the interesting bit. once teams share skills, a design system stops being a component library and starts being instructions somebody else's agent follows. how would you spot a shared skill that has quietly drifted from your system?

This is the part I find genuinely useful. Skills feel less like saving a look and more like saving the decisions behind it: required states, type rules, spacing logic, motion constraints. The interesting question for Community is whether we end up sharing design judgment, or just standardizing taste.

I swear Figma was created to lower the bar so that we accept ai slop - where everything looks the same.

We’ve also been exploring things you can do without leaving Figma. Most are not considered skills.

This is where AI starts to stick: inside the workflow people already use, not in another tab they have to remember to open.
