Imagine being woken up to the sound of a drill drilling out the lock to your front door. Looking out the peephole and seeing police officers at your home. They tell you they are there for your final eviction phase. You are surprised because you never knew you were being evicted, you tell the your name and they check the paperwork and embarrassingly admit they are at the wrong house and it was your neighbor being evicted instead. They apologize like it’s no big deal and say they will fix your lock. Would that be acceptable or would compensation for your inconvenience be in order?

When you stop negotiating down, you stop filtering for people who can’t afford you. And I don’t just mean financially, I mean energetically & psychologically too. People who can’t afford you NEED you to be smaller. They need the discount to confirm something they already believe which is that you’re not really that expensive / not that in demand / not that certain. So understand that your price is SUPPOSED to make some people uncomfortable. Plus, the right people won’t even blink, bc to them it’s normal. So stop lowering your price! Stop making yourself affordable to people who were always going to undervalue you! Let them go find someone cheaper.

Did you know that when you leave Walmart and they ask for your receipt, you legally don’t have to. They can’t detain you or make you stay, unless they have actual proof you stole something. So they can trust you to shop and not steal, ring out your own groceries and not steal, but after you pay for it, they think you stole it? Should they just get rid of the receipt checkers, they don’t check the whole receipt anyways?
