I tried to tell her it was because I was waiting on necessary paperwork like the police report. Turns out she never filed a police report for this single car accident because the person who took the car and wrecked it was her own son. She wanted it filed under a stolen car because it was a comprehensive coverage claim with only a $100 deductible. A collision claim which this was, carries a $1000 deductible that she didn’t have. I tried to explain that that to her and she got belligerent saying that if I had kids I would understand. I told her that has nothing to do with it and what happened was her son drove the car into a tree which is a collision loss. A theft claim only applies if the police were notified and made a report, also she would have to press charges against him for actual theft as well. She was mad because I humbled her, I’m not stupid I knew what happened.
