Your iPhone can now run Python, Node.js, FFmpeg... and even Clang 🤯 Introducing the Wasmer SDK for Swift: → Run Sandboxes inside any iOS or macOS app → 100% on-device. No servers. → Near-native speed No JIT required. Here's how 👇

I will Combine this with Wawona Compositor for iOS 27+, then we can run wayland software at near-native speeds on iPhone, with appstore compliance, without a vm, and additionally with a package manager for installing wasm packages…. Thank you!

So, basically this means that I can have an agent in my iOS app than can create a sandbox, execute stuff in it and dispose it? How many can I create?

Exactly! An agent can create a sandbox, run Python/Node in it, and dispose it. Local and cheap to spin up so you can have several as long as the device has the RAM. Best part: ⚡️ near-native speed, no server.

does it pass mac app store review, or is it direct download only?

Yes, it should fully pass the iOS and macOS app Store reviews (execution is fully sandboxed and using their public primitives and APIs). We have not submitted the example app WasmerShell, but we will do soon.

Can it run an iOS simulator?

Theoretically speaking it could run the clang compiler as a Sandbox (using the iOS SDK headers), so you could generate a dynamic library at runtime and then you could load it on the native side to generate new interfaces. That would allow run something similar to XCode in iOS

Can long-term tasks be well adapted to the iPhone?

As long as the app stays active it should be ok. If it goes to the background it depends on how iOS handles it under the hood
