I used to own a male wolf, cross between a tundra and timber wolf, his name was Chief. There was a wolf sanctuary near my house, but they already had an Alpha male in the pack and Chief was becoming of age and showed signs of intending to challenge the existing Alpha male so I was approached. I had 4 German shepherds that I had rescued, as pups, from a floating raft on the river, so he would have his pack. The first thing he did when he arrived was establish dominance over the dogs by sitting on their faces. I still miss him, he was something special. Unfortunately during an urgent trip across country he disappeared. I don’t know if he was taken or just took off. He was my big boy, whenever I came home from work he would come running up to me and jump up against me ever so gently and lay his head on my shoulder standing on his hind legs. He once stole a loaf of bread from the kitchen.
